THE DEMOCRATS ARE LOSING IT.
Public Enquiry Project ^ | 9/7/04 | Adrian Spidle

THE DEMOCRATS ARE LOSING IT. Has anyone else noticed? They’re behaving like rabid dogs looking for more outlandish dirt with which to throw at the Republican ticket. Fact checking is forgotten. The more outlandish the accusation the better it is.

And now, believe it or not, Susan Estrich says it’s time to get dirty because we’ve been too restrained up to now. She doesn’t want Kerry to make the “Dukakis mistake” of being too nice.

Posters on Atrios’ blog are promising to commit seppuku or move to Canada if Bush wins. They say they’re willing to do ANYTHING to defeat Bush.

It makes me wonder if there are any grown up Democrats calm enough to fend of the impending panic in the Kerry camp.

I don’t think throwing around made up shit is going to help their cause, do you?

I invite my freeper friends to post on http://atrios.blogspot.com/ to add to their misery.

The Democrats started losing it and spewing spittle during the Clinton impeachment hearings. It went downhill from there after the 2000 election as they still believe there was a coup d'etat. One can only hope and pray that Bush is re-elected with a significant mandate to squelch the Democrat sense of being robbed.

Yes, I noticed that too, and had the same reaction to Susan Estrich. I couldn't believe it when she claimed that the Democrats had been "restrained" up to this point, and I was even more incredulous that none of the commentators called her on it.

I heard Susan Estrich screaming her head off as well. She said they were being nice? A year of "Bush is Hitler", "Bush knew", and "Hate Bush" was somehow restrained? Furthermore, I was not old enough to vote in 88' and quite frankly did not pay attention, but Susan said that Dukakis ran a clean, nice, campaign. History tells me that is not the case? What do you guys remember?

As I recall, the Duke was so constantly on the defensive he didn't mount much of campaign. The W. Horton material, originally introduced during the primaries by Algore, the Duke's photo op in a tank, and his reply to a debate question about the death penalty for someone attacking his wife hurt him significantly. His VP candidate, Lloyd Bentsen, got off the line to Dan Quayle that he was no John Kennedy, but that may have been the team's highlight of the campaign.

As I recall.

Well, shooting oneself in the foot isn't exactly offense, but I'm not sure I'd call it defense either...
