In General Gaip's memoir How We Won The War,

Gaip explains that the Communists in Hanoi watched nightly American television overage of John Kerry's anti war activities, and would have surrendered except for Kerry's actions. Gaip also says that Kerry's anti-war activities gave hope and courage to America's enemys.

One Reviewer states:

Brilliant, as relavent today as 1976. Must read for Al Quaida.

Very useful for the insurgent in you. Especially, enlightening is where Giap said that organizations such as "Viet Nam Vets Against the War" (started by John Kerry) gave the North courage and resolve.

The Wall Street Journal (August 3, 1995) published an interview with Bui Tin who served on the General Staff of the North Vietnam Army and received the unconditional surrender of South Vietnam on April 30, 1975.

During the interview Mr. Tin was asked if the American antiwar movement was important to Hanoi's victory. Mr. Tin responded "It was essential to our strategy" referring to the war being fought on two fronts, the Vietnam battlefield and back home in America through the antiwar movement on college campuses and in the city streets. He further stated the North Vietnamese leadership listened to the American evening news broadcasts "to follow the growth of the American antiwar movement." Visits to Hanoi made by persons such as Jane Fonda, former Attorney General Ramsey Clark and various church ministers "gave us confidence that we should hold on in the face of battlefield reverses."

Mr. Tin surmised that "America lost because of its democracy; through dissent and protest it lost the ability to mobilize a will to win." Mr. Tin further advised that General Vo Nguyen Giap (Commanding General of the North Vietnam Army) said the 1968 Tet Offensive was a defeat. Gen. Giap in his book, made the same statement, adding that they were surprised by the news media reporting and the demonstrations in America. Instead of seeking a conditional surrender, they would now hold out because America's resolve was weakening and victory could be theirs.

I argue with Kerry supporters all the time about how the appearance of weakness gives the enemy a reason to wake up in the morning, pick up their gun, and say to themselves, "Today, I'm going to kill an American."

We can achieve any military objective conceivable. We could even destroy China's army in a couple of months time, at the latest, but we cannot win wars anymore because the enemy has a reason to get up in the morning. If they avoid capture, and continue to fight, eventually - the Yankees will go home.

And as long as the press and media see fit to commit that kind of treason against American troops, then we will always be relegated to being the country that wins all the battles but never wins a war. Short of killing and capturing everyone in the theater, there is no victory with our treasonous press giving aid and comfort to our enemies.

But the enemy isn't the free press as much as it is those who seek political or ideological power over the welfare of the nation.

Great post! Many of the lefties have read this book.

Many more undecideds need to be made aware of how Kerry's efforts undermined the USA in the war.

From the website; check out the 3rd sentence:

http://www.book-info.com/asin/0916894010.htm?ID=HSx8gF3dFwDl2Zsc

The objective of this book was the description, in broad terms, of the strategies employed by North Vietnam in 1975 well after withdrawal of U.S. troops. If you are looking for details in tactics employed throughout the campaign, you will not find them here. Nor is this the book in which Gen. Giap supposedly stated that groups such at the Vietnam Veterans Against the War gave the North the resolve to carry on. This book is for the reader already familiar with the course of the war after the Paris Agreement, who is interested in hearing in the words of the victors how they envisioned the means of bringing down the South Vietnamese government.

I clicked on your link to book sales site and one reviewer of this book states: "The objective of this book was the description, in broad terms, of the strategies employed by North Vietnam in 1975 well after withdrawal of U.S. troops. If you are looking for details in tactics employed throughout the campaign, you will not find them here. Nor is this the book in which Gen. I'd like to send this info to liberal acquaintances and to my entire Pubbie email list, but don't want to do so until you can corroborate that the information about Kerryistas emboldening the VC is actually in this book.
