At the funeral home, we had over 250 people come through on the night of Mama's wake. It was a testament to what a lovely woman she truly was. My sister's boss, and another friend of hers came up from the MS Gulf Coast to attend it, and when they walked in, they were amazed at all the laughing going on. It was a good thing there was not another family in the funeral home that night, they might not have understood. We were truly HAPPY that Mama had been released from the grip of the disease and that she was in Heaven with the Lord she loved and with our Daddy who had gone on 22 years before. Sure there was some sadness, but that was just selfishness on our part that she wouldn't be here with us any longer. There was mostly an overwhelming sense of relief that she was no longer enduring the mental suffering.

I'm sure you understand what I mean.

My father died when I was fifty. This was my last memory of my father:

I walked into the kitchen of my childhood home. Dad was sitting at the table. He heard my "Hello", turned around and rose from the table. "Oh, XXXXX" he said. "Hi, Dad", I said, as he put his loving arms around me and gave me a warm hug".

It'll be ten years. I keep his picture in front of me both at home and in my office. In the summertime, a lady who has a little vegetable stand near my home gives me flowers...the same kind of flowers that my father always gave me when I visited him. I place them in a vase by his picture.

The lady that gives me the flowers doesn't know what the mean to me. The way I figure it, she's one of God's helpers.

Your father will live in your heart and mind forever. You will feel his warm hug when you need it the most. "Love Never Dies".

May God bless and comfort his loved ones.

You will find you now carry your father with you everywhere you go as he will now live in your heart. This is a very comforting thought because we are not altogether losing them, they are just moving to our hearts.

Race, my wife & I send our prayers.

We moved to Las Vegas in order that my father-in-law can live with us. He moved from California in January of this year.

It is now two years ago that my mother-in-law passed away and I can witness on a regular basis the sorrow that my wife & father-in-law experience.

OTOH, I can also see the beauty of the healing process unfold as both father & daughter recall all the good & fun times with her. This is a very special time for both of them.

As for me, both my parents are 82 and going pretty good for that age.

In fact, next Monday, the 23rd, both my mom & dad are coming to visit us here in Las Vegas.

I plan on making it special and cherishing very second that I have with my folks.

BOOK of PSALMS
Chapter 23

23:1 The LORD is my shepherd; I shall not want.

23:2 He maketh me to lie down in green pastures:
he leadeth me beside the still waters.

23:3 He restoreth my soul:
he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name's sake.

23:4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil:
for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

23:5 Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies:
thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

23:6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life:
and I will dwell in the house of the LORD for ever.

GOD BLESS

My friend and fellow Marine, RaceBannon,

Please know that your family will remain in our hearts and prayers.

In His Own Seasons

God may choose to heal us to remain here in his service...
God may choose only to sustain us in these mortal days; even in the face of suffering. But when He receives us at the end of our earthly time, He does heal us completely -- whole once again...Forever

In all the administration of heavenly Graces, we do not always understand His ways -- we are the ones trapped in time awaiting our own forevers... and beyond the mind of human understanding, remain the sum of His thoughts.

We can only believe and trust; that when we don't know and don't understand it all; We do know the One who does possess all wisdom, knowledge, and even higher purposes for us all.

In God we do, indeed, trust.

Especially in our sorrows and grief....
God remains always faithful to His word and certain to give comfort to our broken hearts.

Semper Fi, my friend
Semper Fi,
Wings
