Berger/Kerry Campaign Intelligence Flap - Could this be Hillary's "In" for the Nomination

O.K. FREEPERS!! Could this be the scandal that will, on down the road, lead John F. Kerry to give up the Dimorats nomination? I'm talking about the Sandy Berger flap. This man was Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser. He has been caught, allegedly, stealing highly classified documents pertaining to our national security from a secret reading room. The documents, from what I understand, were to be reviewed by the 9/11 Intelligence Committee; whose report is due out Thursday.

Mr. Berger has, for months, been advising the Kerry Campaign on National Security. I just heard on Fox News that some weeks ago JFK came out with a National Security statement saying there were security lapses on our borders and our ports. Guess what? The lady on Fox News just said that this is exactly what was in some of the papers that Berger stole. Some GOP Congressmen are calling for all papers the Kerry Campaign received from Sandy Berger to be turned over to the FBI.

Now, here's the scenario I've plotted out in my mind. I've said for months that whomever the Dim nominee is, the Clintonistas will sabotage their campaign and they will be forced out. Hillary will step up to the plate and graciously accept the nomination and save the party.

Hey, wilder things have happened. What say ye? Anybody?

If I were Kerry, I would purge my campaign of Clintonistas ASAP.

Here's what's amazing: I've been away from FR for 48 hours and everybody is talking about this like everybody else knows all the details. This place is amazingly fast.

I don't think Hillary is ready just yet. I think 08 is still her plan. And it depends on just what ole Sandy is willing to tell DOJ. Will Sandy be another Web Hubble?

"I think Hill might be more difficult to beat than JFK"

lets see here...bill clinton got low 40's votewise BOTH times, the rest split by bush/perot. 8 years of continuous scandals, including turning a blind eye to terrorism.
bottom line: the american people do not want the clintons back in office.

I dont think Hitlery could take the nomination and win. A lot of democrats think Kerry was picked for them, picking someone else would push a lot of them away from the polls or to Nader.

The side of my brain that dwells on conspiracies sees Hillary's hand on the toaster control kicking it up another notch.

A lot of rain on the Kerry parade has come from close Clinton associates.

If anything, this is a Kerry move looking to freeze out Hillary since it concerns a possible Clinton cover-up.

>>The more the public sees of Hillary!, the less they like her. Running through the primaries and into the general election is just too much exposure. She needs to win in a quick sprint at the end.<<

Yeah, that works. Tell you what, if I knew what you said to be true, I'D VOTE FOR HER! I mean, if it really were true, what would her approval ratings be in '06? '08? Get her in for four years; get a veto-proof majority in the Senate. Obstruct every judicial candidate, and get the White House for sure in '08. Maybe even get a real conservative, instead of the Kennedy poodle we've got now.

Except for one thing:

THAT'S THE DUMBEST IDEA I EVER HEARD OF!

No, I don't mean that... I'm only experiencing crashing blood sugar... going home for dinner, NOW!

I think Hillary would be more content to watch Bush win than take a chance on having to wait for as much as 16 years. If Bush wins she only has 4 years before she can run.

Im most concerned about a Clinton Edwards ticket in 4 years.

When she needed to throw her hat in the ring for the Primaries, The Prez looked unbeatable; so she decided to sit this one out; much to her regret now.

Ummmm, no. The media won't dwell on it. The Republicans won't pursue it and in two weeks it will be old news. Just like all the other potential scandals we've seen over the last 12 or more years. It there's a Democrat involved there will be no lasting problems (unless you speak out against the Clintons on the floor of the House - see Traficant, Jim).

I fear you are going to be right. Traficant and Condit are the only Demonrat Congressman to lose their seats in a scandal the past five or so years. Traficant was anti-Clinton. Condit had a dead body he couldn't exaplain.

None of that here.

That's the more likely scenario. That way, they have two leading candidates in 2008. I could see the media's 2008 primary headlines now: "Clinton v. Edwards, the battle for the future of the Democratic Party".

We all know DNC strategists are salivating over going up against an "open field" on the GOP side.

Hillary can't make it through a full campaign at this point, sort of like Arnold Schwartzenegger. Have you EVER seen Hillary get asked a REAL question? NOPE! The only person to even question her was Guiliani, and he dropped out after HillaryOperatives planted the idea that it's not smart to vote for a man who has cancer.

Are you sure? After all, who's more true to their base: Bush or Hillary. Demmies would fall on the sword for Hillary, but the same can't be said for Dubya. Demmies see Hillary as their Goldwater or Reagan.

"Maybe even get a real conservative, instead of the Kennedy poodle we've got now."

-- That real conservative's name is Bill Owens, Colorado Governor. Truly Reaganesque. He's got those strange historical quirks in his past that presidents always have too. Owens is a native Texan, and worked Papa Bush's congressional campaign with Dubya back in the 1970s.
