Berger/Kerry Campaign Intelligence Flap - Could this be Hillary's "In" for the Nomination

O.K. FREEPERS!! Could this be the scandal that will, on down the road, lead John F. Kerry to give up the Dimorats nomination? I'm talking about the Sandy Berger flap. This man was Bill Clinton's National Security Adviser. He has been caught, allegedly, stealing highly classified documents pertaining to our national security from a secret reading room. The documents, from what I understand, were to be reviewed by the 9/11 Intelligence Committee; whose report is due out Thursday.

Mr. Berger has, for months, been advising the Kerry Campaign on National Security. I just heard on Fox News that some weeks ago JFK came out with a National Security statement saying there were security lapses on our borders and our ports. Guess what? The lady on Fox News just said that this is exactly what was in some of the papers that Berger stole. Some GOP Congressmen are calling for all papers the Kerry Campaign received from Sandy Berger to be turned over to the FBI.

Now, here's the scenario I've plotted out in my mind. I've said for months that whomever the Dim nominee is, the Clintonistas will sabotage their campaign and they will be forced out. Hillary will step up to the plate and graciously accept the nomination and save the party.

Hey, wilder things have happened. What say ye? Anybody?

I'm not really sure that I want this scenario to play out. I think Hill might be more difficult to beat than JFK.

What I fear is that the Dems will drop Kerry and go with Edwards.

Nothing would electrify the Republican base more than another Clinton running for the Presidency.

I think she would also turn off a lot of the more "moderate" Democrats, especially the older ones who would never vote for a woman for President.

Ummmm, no. The media won't dwell on it. The Republicans won't pursue it and in two weeks it will be old news. Just like all the other potential scandals we've seen over the last 12 or more years. It there's a Democrat involved there will be no lasting problems (unless you speak out against the Clintons on the floor of the House - see Traficant, Jim).

Well, Kerry says that he just learned of the criminal investigation into his national security advisor yesterday (although it's been going on for 7 months). Nothing to see here, more along. (sarcasm)

no, she's better off until 08... no point in taking a chance against an incumbent .... of course, it sure would be nice to see her name all over those papers that sandyburglar stole

The Clintons have delivered the first punch designed to make John F*ckin' damaged goods by November. I love how they do it. They're showing him who the real pros are. And you betcha there's more to come... stay tuned.

They'd want someone who wasn't "tainted" so Edwards would probably be SOL.

The more the public sees of Hillary!, the less they like her. Running through the primaries and into the general election is just too much exposure. She needs to win in a quick sprint at the end.

I just learned of it yesterday. If Nose-Berger never told Kerry, why should Kerry have known? The Bush admin has a lot of patience, and it likes these sorts of time bombs (they just wait for the scandals to go off, or deliberately set them off at the right time)

The predicate of all this is to seriously believe that the story has legs and that justice will find Sandy Berger.

That's just not a very mature belief.

This is a conspiracy theory worthy of Dick Morris.

Face it: Hillary isn't going to run. She is not going to be a candidate.

Let's see...bad Republicans leak info on Berger (VRWC-type blame). Info looks bad for Kerry. Maybe.
