Questions about Nick Berg
Multiple ^ | 5-12-2004 | Solson

Posted on 05/12/2004 11:36:57 AM PDT by Solson

Something is really odd about Nick Berg's situation in Iraq. First, he was thought to have been detained by US Forces. Now, it is the Iraqi police in Mosul. Today, it comes to light he has an Iraqi-in-law who lives in the Mosul area.

Now, reports are that Nick had the opportunity to leave and did not take it.

Finally, the pictures of his brutal killing...I found it odd he had a beard very similar to that of many Muslims.

That's all. Something isn't complete in this story. His death is tragic and infuriating. But there are unanswered questions.

Meanwhile, his dad, who is associated with A.N.S.W.E.R. is squealing about how his death was Bush's fault and how civil rights are being trampled.

Iraq is an extremely wealthy nation. (Site of the Garden of Eden)

There are thousands of ways for enterprising Americans to find their fortunes there.

How about smuggling out antiquities. First you find them, then you buy them, then you contact smugglers who can get them into Syria.

"He found maybe. . .someone who was in 'some way' related to his family? Or. . .what?"

Like maybe a cousin in-law? I don't know. Then why wouldn't his family have known of this in-law? I mean...if anyone interviewed the family they should be able to confirm the existence of this person.

This information came from E-MAILS Nick sent to his parents. I think. I dunno...this thing is spinning in circles.

They are not talking apparently; citing their anger at our Government (Bush); their lack of response or for their response. . . for these horrific events.

Perhaps this is more of a smokescreen; and they do not want to explain, the truth of the matter. There are many empty spaces here. . .

"But some of these instances are just really weird."

Maybe some of the 'empty spaces' are simply due to 'lack of time to develop total story here' but, right now, more than a few mixed signals out there and more than a few empty spaces in this story. . .and I am wondering if it has anything to do with 'family politics'.

That said, we know, for the moment at least, the most important and brutal fact, which has been offered; up close, and personal for all the world to see.

could be more here; but I would think he was more than smart enough to want to blend into this community for his own safety.

Some have commented on his different appearance from his family photo as well; but bouncing around a war-ravaged country can surely change one's appearance and certainly one's weight.

The parents are still insisting he was in U.S. custody
..... did Berg confirm that fact when he communicated with his folks after his release?

Who changed his clothes before dumping him by the bridge?

There's definitely something fishy going on. Well...even if he was really an antiwar protestor, he didn't deserve to be hideously, tortuously murdered.

One more time. He was clean shaven when he left. That included his head. He was Jewish. Jews and Arabs are both Semitic people. We are genetically related.

You are right, it is just conjecture. But it is his father who is saying that his son was pro-Bush and pro-war and I don't trust his lefty father for a minute. I will wait until I hear from a Republican who knew him.

Does it matter though? He was an American murdered by Al Qaeda. That's all I have to know.

thanks for the 'fine print'. I did, finally, recall hearing this reported, once; when this story first came into news; but not since; so thanks for the follow-up.

. . .That Berg was always a Bush 'supporter' is quite possible; also it may be that he was not; but his Iraq experience may have been changed his political view. . .

. . . and the Father in his grief and anger, already directed at President Bush; could be just 'sticking it' a little more to Bush, by his answer.

In any event, thanks for the follow-up.

Well, personally don't think he was an anti-war protester - but who knows; anything possible here; but whatever the case, 'yes',agree there are some missing pieces here.

The only people who are deserving of such treatment are these murdering, heinous terrorists themselves.

His sister was married to an Iraqi. His deceased sister. At least that's what I remember reading. But I can't find the article or the reference anymore.

There is something very strange going on here.

Where is the published account of Nick Berg giving his support for Bush? This was related to the media by the father. Just a way to further his own agenda?

If he was questioned by the FBI re. Moussoui, that had to have occurred prior to the invasion of Afghanistan, much less Iraq. Did the FBI have their eye on him while he was in Iraq? Why was he detained at all? Was he on a 'watch list'? Where did he get the funds to travel to Iraq, twice, and stay there, obviously traveling around the country without a job or affiliation with a contractor? Why was he working on cell towers in Abu Ghriab as I've read?

Was he involved in something that might have exposed a political mess for his 'sponsors' so he was killed to keep him quiet? Did his interviews with the FBI scare someone into killing him? Was he composed in the video because he was duped into believing that his death was being faked to protect him, the 'cause' and prevent betrayal?

And I too believe that there are no coincidences. There are valid answers to all of these questions, and many more posed by others. I will reserve judgment until some more time has passed and more information surfaces.

More and more; bits and pieces, coming in. But still, we are left to our own conclusions. Mine is fairly simple. So far. . .

Thanks for responding and check update on this Post: "What Led Him to Iraq?" . . .
