That's important to point out. Where did you see that stat?

Here, or a link somebody here gave me. At least a year ago, maybe two. Could even be out of date but given what I know about criminals I doubt it. Part of the nature of criminals is that they don't do things legally that they can do illegally, why buy when you can steal.

Of course the past cannot be changed, even by spouting 'perverted weirdo' crap, - as you do..
--- Your dementia is evident from thinking that I said that.
Get some professional help my boy.

I'm encouraged that many at FR seem to be coming round to believe that the RLC might be part of a solution:

Yeah, probably right. The assault weapon ban, as it is currently written, will not pass.
The one which the GOP will pass will be much, much worse.
Republicans used to promise they would cut wasteful spending, eliminate useless government bureaucracies like the Dept of Commerce, Dept. of Education. Then they promised to reduce regulations and eliminate wasteful government subsidies. Until they were elected majority that is.
Then they turned around and started voting for huge increases in funding for farm subsidies, Dept. of Education, NEA. Federal spending is up 22 percent these last two years and growing.
Yeah, I believe a Republican when he promises something. They have such a good record of keeping their campaign promises.

Preserving the assault weapons ban makes it just that much harder for terrorists to obtain tools of the trade. It does nothing of the sort.
It does however prevent effective armed resistance against the government or against civil insurrection and riot, which historically is a lot more common than terrorist acts committed with assault weapons.
P.S. I am an Apple user and I am sane.

P.T. Barnum is STILL right.

Is Delay willing to put his future on the line over this assurance? I seriously doubt it. That would mean he had some something to lose, unlike us who have everything to lose......
Only time will tell if our representatives actually represent us or if they prefer to see themselves as our masters. Either way, we'll know soon.
I've been hammering the hell our of the whitehouse and my congress critters and plan to keep it up daily until this piece of garbage is ended. I ask others to do the same, it takes only minutes to unleash a barrage of emails. Snail mail takes longer, but I'm doing that too.

This countries borders are so porous that cocaine shipments weighing TONS come into this nation despite all the efforts of the various govt. agencies to stop it do you honestly think they will be able to stop illegal arms shipments when the terrorists can have access to the diplomatic pouches of sympathetic nations.

Reasonable post.
The 1968 GCA is the foundation from which the notion to outlaw gunowners if you can't get the guns too is based.

Politics is a game. Until you accept that, you will ALWAYS be a loser, and ALWAYS be ranting meaningless drivel that nobody will pay any attention to.

No politician should be playing games with our constitution.
