Well he broke the law. We need to make an example of him. People can't be allowed to protect themselves or we would have anarchy. That's what the police are for. The burgler was just tying to make a living, and now he's dead. There's no proof he would have harmed the child. Why didn't he try to flee? (/stupid liberal comments)
Seriously though injustice *IS* the law of the land. One hopes for Jury Nullification in this case.

Sounds like the DA has an ego problem. Someone other than he was able to make Brooklyn a little safer by removing a career criminal and he feels threatened. What a pathetic individual.

Do pistols have to be registered in Brroklyn? In NY state?

Even after the enlightenment of the 911 attack, New York is still ruled by the tyrants of the left. They know they are wrong but can't swallow the bitter phlegm of defeat.

Hynes is a first class, A-1 political Wh-re. He panders to minorities, opposes the Second Amendment, and is highly selective in the way he impliments the law.
He's stuck here. If Dixon sticks to his guns, as he should, Hynes will probaby back down as Dixon is a minority.
Were Dixon white, Hynes would be building a cross now to crucify him.
Dixon was doing what any American has the right to do, and his minority status is a further protection in New York City. Stick to your guns Dixon, make that creep Hynes sweat. He deserves it.

I remember this case when it Sean Hannity first publicized it on his radio show. The DA really wanted to nail this guy to the wall. Now the system is willing to let him off with a misdemeanor and probation. I think they are seeing their case fall apart and don't want to risk it in a trial. Therefore, it must be taken to a trial just to rub New York's face in it.

So if a homeowner beats an intruder to death with a baseball bat, it's okay, right?
But only an unregistered gun is off limits.
How ridiculous.

Sounds like this DA is going to need a lot of luck finding 12 jurors to convict this guy of anything.

Omitted from the story was that Ronald Dixon legally purchased and registerd as required, the firearm in the state he left. He also applied for a permit in NYC.
As a former LE in NYC, I KNOW the City permitted "Target Licenses" with the weapon to be stored on a designated premises and "carry" was to be to an from the range, with certain requirements. I KNOW that those LAUNDERING DRUG MONEY HAD SUCHPERMITS. Prove if they were enroute to a range! Was it really tARGET SHOOTING, OR PROTECTING DRUG MONEY?
So, Ronald Dixon, was denied a pistol permit that others use to protect ill gotten gains?
As long as Ronald Dixon was a legal immigrant, I have no problem with him. If he entered illegally, nail him to the wall.

It is bizarre to me that the prosecutor is pushing these piddly (to them) charges against this man. The benefit to the safety of anyone to come from this man's short imprisonment is nonexistant, and the consequences to this family of a criminal conviction and lost income is enormous.

He should have said it was the burglers gun, the burgler turned the gun on him, in an act of desperation he grabbed the gun, fell back and as he hit the floor the gun went off, hitting the burgler.
To: kattracks
Hynes said he would only ask Dixon to serve four weekends in jail in exchange for a guilty plea.
What that tells me is that the DA is looking for a quick resolution to the case. He doesn't want to prosecute it because he knows that a jury would be sympathetic to a guy just trying to protect his child -- and that's exactly how a defense attorney would present it. He feared for his life -- or his child. Either way, he wins. He was smart to spurn the deal. Let the DA do the heavy lifting -- and lose.
