A former Fox TV anchor accused of murdering her elderly mother is too insane to be tried for the killing, a judge has ruled.
Angelynn Mock, 47, was taken into custody last October in Wichita, Kansas, for allegedly stabbing her 81-year-old mom Anita Avers to death.
The former Fox 2 presenter was charged in November with first-degree murder after Avers was found with multiple stab wounds inside her home.
Sedgwick County District Judge Jeff Goering ruled this week that Mock was incompetent to stand trial after a psychologist's report was given to the court.
The report determined that Mock suffers from schizophrenia and the case was taken off the docket, according to FirstAlert4.
She was sent to Larned State Hospital for further evaluation and treatment, but could be brought back at a later time to stand trial for the death of her mother.
According to a probable cause affidavit seen by KAKE, her stepfather Barry told police that Mock was laid off after 'an explosive situation involving alcohol'.
In one outburst just weeks before Avers died, Barry said that police were called and Mock was held for two weeks inside a hospital.
He said that Mock had in the past made statements like 'they're all robots', and 'they're not real people'.
The document said that Mock confessed to the killing, tell an officer: 'I had to kill her, she wasn't going to stop.'
After being arrested and taken for a formal police interview, she added: 'I had to kill that b**** to have my mom back any day.
'I don't even know who she is anymore. I know, I believe she's the devil.'

Killing a parent is not something you want to be judged sane enough to have done.
Yeah, they were totally out of their tree when doing something but they did do it.
So they can never be let out again.

Sometimes when the looks fade, the brain fades along with it… especially when your whole life is based around how you look.
Maybe something just snapped inside. Still not an excuse to murder someone.
Like Texas said - if she was that far off the charts, she should’ve been locked up, or put away, so that she couldn’t be a danger to herself or anyone else. This couldn’t be the first incident where she was reacting violently.
Our laws let people who are schizophrenic roam around freely. Need a national, rational debate of what kind of behaviour is acceptable in a society which wants to protect its citizens. Otherwise, vigilante groups eventually will spring up.
The hot - crazy matrix went off the scale on this one. Usually Schizophrenia hits in the early 20’s or sooner but not later. Wonder what happened?

Mine has gone off the rails, wants to tell me what to do and how to do it, where to live and why. Interrupting my pretty darned good old age with her demands for my “safety” and “your own good”.
Killing a parent is not something you want to be judged sane enough to have done.
