Gabby Giffords gun control group, Giffords, claims the public is less safe now Publix Super Markets made clear its Florida stores will comply with Florida’s open carry law.
Open carry went into effect on September 25, 2025, and on October 9, 2025, Breitbart News reported that Publix confirmed its policies will be in compliance with the state’s new carry format.
On October 12, 2025, Giffords posted to X: “We should all be able to go on a grocery run without worrying about if we’ll make it home, but now anyone can openly carry a gun in Florida’s largest grocery store chain without a background check or training. This is a massive threat to public safety.” …

I don’t think you really wanna go there, Ms. Giffords, given your lack of due diligence ensured that you weren’t the only person shot that day.
> anyone can openly carry a gun in Florida’s largest grocery store chain without a background check or training <
Interestingly enough, any adult US citizen can also vote without a background check or training. Funny how the Constitution works. Perhaps Gifford should complain about that, too.
If only Publix would stop spending an outrageous amount on TV ads. They could lower prices 10% and I’d go back!
Waste in my aldi eyes
I’ve always thought it interesting that your hubby didn’t insist that you to have it, either.
IIRC, advertising spend is tax deductible.
Ads don’t have to be persuasive.
“We should all be able to go on a grocery run without worrying about if we’ll make it home,..”
She’s paranoid because she almost didn’t make it home from a Safeway because of a deranged democrat (but I repeat myself). By the way Giff, what are you doing in Arizona which has ALWAYS been open carry?
Ads fund the leftist propoganda
Don’t go there if you are worried. Go where only the criminals have guns.
👍👍
And if a criminal comes to the store,
Democrat Gabby Giffords? DUH 🙄🙄🙄
I remember when I had to mask-up for the security cameras before entering a grocery store.
Publix. Where shopping is a pleasure!
Safer to open carry than to leave it in your car in the parking lot?
I dunno, I can see people getting high on low prices and elevator music, come out of the store blasting away while pushing their carts.
Comparing apples and oranges.
The 2d amendment is a RIGHT. To VOTE is a PRIVILEGE.
We need to use language properly and expect others to use it.
DEMOCRACY in America is in the marketplace, not government.
The government is a REPUBLIC.
To live in the US is a PRIVILEGE. I was PRIVILEGED to be born in the US. Nobody has a RIGHT to be in the US. When they are removed from the US their PRIVILEGE is removed. Their removal touches no RIGHTS.
Lefty gun-grabbers like Giffords, many of whom have armed security around them, have used this tired argument for decades: Any open carry laws will mean frequent shoot outs in parking lots and husbands and wives shooting each other over whose turn it is to wash the dishes.
NEVER mentioned, of course, is how many times guns have saved lives, prevented rapes, stopped or ended mass shootings.
Defending oneself with deadly force if necessary is a human right.
> The 2d amendment is a RIGHT. To VOTE is a PRIVILEGE. <
I understand your point. But I respectfully disagree. Both are natural rights. We have the natural right to self-defense, and the natural right to choose our own leaders. That’s one thing the Founders understood.
There are of course minimum qualifications to keep and bear arms. Same goes for voting. For example, a small child can neither carry a gun nor vote.
Won’t the hoplophobes give it a rest already? Yet they’re having spontaneous uncontrollable multiple orgasms over Charlie Kirk’s assassination and are in love with pretty boi Luigi Mangione, and the POS who shot the 2 Israeli Embassy workers in DC. Not to mention they’re POed that Pres Trump survived at least 2 assassination attempts. Sick of their fake outrage
