From what she said, it’s not clear to me what Israel is doing that prevents their release. Is she saying that they will only be released if the war ends? She sounds very much like Erdogan did yesterday in saying that Hamas is not a terrorist organization and that Israel is engaging in genocide. What am I missing here?

One thing I am seeing constantly now from leftists is that they make a claim, but have no idea how to construct an argument to support the claim. I don’t think they even have an argument based on reason in their own minds. They are just all running on prejudice and hate, even among their university-educated “elites” now.
They do not care. Proof by assertion (a logical fallacy) is enough for them because it puts the notion into their narrative.
Yeah, like Hammas has kept its word in the past about ceased fire agreements. It’s always Israel that has to make concessions and it’s always Israel that gets screwed. Not this time. Hammas either releases the hostages or face eventual annihilation. I think Israel’s had enough and is willing to sacrifice the remaining hostages for the total elimination of Hammas.
