More than one in 10 young people who identify as LGBTQ attempted suicide in 2023, a survey from suicide prevention organization Trevor Project has found.
The survey, which focuses on the mental health of LGBTQ youth, was circulated to 18,000 people from ages 13 to 24.
Nearly 40 percent of LGBTQ young people seriously considered attempting suicide in the past year, while 46 percent of transgender and nonbinary young people between the ages of 13 and 17 had similar ideations.
Transgender men were the most at risk, with more than 50 percent of them reporting considering suicide and 18 percent of them attempting it.
Among LGBTQ teens aged 13 to 17, a total of 16 percent attempted suicide. This is higher than the average among all LGBTQ youths, which sits at 12 percent.
Even more troubling, half of those surveyed reported not being able to get mental health care when they needed it.
When broken down further, suicidal ideation vastly differs among different groups in the LGBTQ community.
Those identifying as pansexual had both the highest rate of considering suicide and attempting it, with gay, lesbian, bisexual and queer people reporting relatively similar rates of attempting suicide.
Across racial groups, Native American LGBTQ youth were by far and away the most likely to consider or attempt suicide, according to the survey.
The Trevor Project said that 'anti-LGBTQ+ victimization' was the main factor in young people's increased likelihood for suicide, something the organization has found in its previous surveys.
'Once again, this year's survey shows that considering or attempting suicide is not uncommon among LGBTQ+ young people,' said Dr. Ronita Nath, the Vice President of Research at the Trevor Project. 'However, many of the contributing risk factors for suicide are preventable, and often rooted in victimizing behaviors of others.'

The mental health system (and education system) is essentially telling them they are fine! They are telling them they are "normal" and should embrace their mental illness. They are NOT fine. They are sick, and need help. These children have suicide rates similar to or higher than psychotic disorders! In the case of transgenders, that hazard also applies to their risk of violence. You don't tell someone with schizophrenia they are normal and should obey the voices, and you shouldn't tell mentally ill children that they are fine.
Affirming their delusions will not cure crazy.
How do we teach them to achieve success?

Because the are sad neurotic girls struggling with all sorts of mental health problems or emotional trauma, often sexual abuse.
Yeah. And after the surgery how many of them WILL GO THROUGH WITH IT?
Those with mental disorders always have higher suicide rates, period.
I doubt that this is a surprise to anyone on Free Republic. We have been reading many articles and even peer-reviewed papers (for what that is worth) for some time now, and that is one of the reasons so many of us are absolutely dead-set and appalled at this normalization of this insanity, PARTICULARLY with young children!
We recognize that many young people go through stages in early life where sexual issues are confusing and uncomfortable, and what they need is help getting through those stages, and they are fine and have a normal life.
This has NOTHING to do with those poor children who are born with ambiguous sex, who may have a mix of physical sexual characteristics. This children NEED surgical and therapy help. I specifically say this, because every time you have this conversation with people who are all in on transsexualism, they ALWAYS seem to bring this up, and it has NO bearing on those hermaphroditic children.
The atrocity is encouraging and aiding children from pre-teens up to 18 to undergo sex change procedures! IT IS CHILD ABUSE. Those poor kids will NEVER, EVER have a happy life. They are sentenced to lives of misery and pain, and willingly sentenced to that BY THEIR OWN PARENTS, EDUCATORS, LEGISLATORS, and MEDICAL PERSONNEL.
It is criminal. These people who encourage this, fund this, and carry this shameful abuse out should go to jail. Especially those “professionals” in Medicine like the ones on record who laud it as a “revenue stream”.
Sometimes, it is nearly impossible for me to imagine this world we live in now, where this is normalized and encouraged.
Shameful.
I often drive by houses that say “This house supports transgender teens.”
What?
I don’t give a crap if they kill themselves. I’m more worried about the vast majority of these train wrecks wanting to take a bunch of normies with them.
Another what was I thinking issue sometimes you pass the no return line.
I would more favor 100% of teens considering killing their groomers with a baseball bat with nails stuck in it.
96 percent.
Hormones and "gender affirming surgery" damages 96% of gender-confused children, because it prevents them from going going through puberty and growing up (and growing out of their gender confusion).
Notice you aren't seeing any headlines about this study. If it went the other way (supporting transitioning) you can be sure it would be headline news.
Having adult strangers (psychologist and whackjob trachers) encourage you to be gay or tran against your parent(s?) will can really mess up a psychology.
They are after all insane.
Mental defectives consider suicide? Who woulda thunk it?
