Terrifying footage released by the Los Angeles Police Department shows a pedestrian being run over and killed by a driver while he was lying in the street.
The unidentified victim had walked into the middle of Western Avenue near the intersection on Vernon Avenue at around 2am on December 17.
Footage shows the man fall on the street. Police have not been able to determine if he collapsed or fell on purpose.
The man spent a few seconds lying in the middle of the street before a woman on the sidewalk noticed him.
Video then shows a car speeding toward the pedestrian while the woman violently waves her arms in the air, indicating the car to stop.
The unknown driver is seen paying no heed to the woman's warning, hitting and killing the victim.
Another four cars passed by the victim after he was struck before the woman ran into the street to his aid.
DailyMail.com has reached out to the LAPD for a comment.
In a release, officials said the pedestrian was transported to a local hospital and succumbed to his injuries.
Once identified, the driver faces Vehicular Manslaughter charges.

He may have passed out walking across the street. Some drugs will allow you to be able to walk but cause you to suddenly pass out. No mention of gunshots and 2:52 a.m. is late even for gang bangers. But the area is a bad part of town. MLK Blvd is a few blocks away.

Why? Because it was allegedly a hit and run? Do the cops know the guy in the street was alive when hit? Did the driver know they hit a person or body?
Guy lays down in street at 2 am, gets run over and it's automatically the driver's fault? Maybe you're better off taking your chances with a hit and run if the cops aren't going to do a better job at investigating.
Wanted to commit suicide. If driver would have stopped, probably no charges.

2 AM is also a bad time to be stopping in the street to help someone laying in the road, with a potential accomplice waving you down. The Haitians in southern Florida used it as s robbery tactic.

Very good point. Better to keep driving and call 911, though it’s probably better if you don’t run over the person lying in the road.
