'Ideological fanatics' allowing their politics to dictate professional decisions have seen profits slump, according to industry experts.

Among the works responsible for huge losses is a hotly anticipated memoir by the actor Eliot Page about his journey transitioning. 'Pageboy' sold for a $3 million advance but has sold just 68,000 copies.

It means that even novels that sell tens of thousands of copies such as Page's can still tank commercially.

The novel was acquired in a deal estimated to be worth more than $250,000, but has shifted just 3,163 copies since it was published in 2021.

Another example is 'queer feminist Western', 'Lucky Red' by Claudia Cravens which has sold around 3,500 copies despite commanding a $500,000 advance.

Meanwhile, established white authors have complained that they are facing more barriers to getting published.

Book deals are a favorite money laundering scheme of democrats, like Hillary Clinton's many books and many millions of dollars she's taken in from them. Has anyone here ever seen someone actually buy & read one of Hillary's books? Me neither.

How about Barack Obama's books that were published before anyone outside the democratic establishment knew who he was? I'm sure the public was clamoring for the memoirs of a guy who had done nothing but go to college, smoke a lot of pot and do a little cocaine. Sounds like about 50 million other college kids but for some reason a publisher decided to give him millions of dollars for his story.

Just today I was telling my sister about a children’s novel I’m working on and how I’ve added a side character who’s “non-binary” and obsessed with her pronouns. The subordinate point of this side character will be to mock her narcissism - as and see her snap out of it by the end, realizing the journey wasn’t “all about her”. I expressed worries about turning off conservative parents by even bringing that attribute forth. She said “No, I totally get the irony and humor. So will the conservatives. The wokies will love it, because they’ll be too self absorbed to catch the mocking of what will clearly be seen by the heroes a character flaw.”. We’ll see...

This is very true. When Callisto approached me to write for them, it was due not so much “social media” as it was due to SEO on my social media channels. That is exactly what the author recruiter told me when I asked how did you find me?

I credit two of my social media coaches at the time for getting discovered. If you use social media make sure it is search engine optimized to your target avatar/audience.

I was building my Instagram account at the time and was posting 300-500 words a day in my niche. Optimized!!
