A police officer has been fired after he was caught on camera punching a woman squarely in the face while she was handcuffed.
Former Loveland Officer Russell Maranto, 28, punched Angelia Hall, 59, in the mouth while she was detained in a hospital emergency room.
In the footage, Hall can be heard becoming increasingly frustrated and angry as she sits in an examination chair while cursing and yelling at the officers and nurses who were present.
But it was when she spat at Maranto that he immediately reacted by punching her.
Another officer in the room intervened and pulled Maranto away from Hall.

Loveland Police Chief Tim Doran released a statement on Friday as he explained his reasoning for firing the officer, citing his unnecessary use of force.
The incident was investigated by the Larimer County Sheriff's Office, but so far the district attorney's office has not filed criminal charges against Maranto.

She looks like a walking petri dish
Agree, take the hand cuffs off, beat the shxt out of her then put them back on.
She spit on the guy. She got what she deserved.
I think that the guy showed a lot of restraint. She was a vile, disgusting creature that was completely out of control. He barely tapped her. I have never struck a woman but who knows, a person can only take so much she could have driven just about anyone over the line, especially with the spit. That’s assault. I doubt his little tap will even leave a mark but she will be paid handsomely for it.
Wasn’t much of a punch. Woosie cop.
The bit#h spit at him. She deserved to be punched
“The Loveland PD has had quite a history of cops assaulting people. Just sayin’”
Ft. Collins too.
I demand two strikes.
And now that vile woman, who had it coming to her, will get rich.
Geez.
Spitting on someone is assault and battery. He only hit her once?
She deserved it.
Myself I’d love to live in a world without police. There’d be no one around to protect the criminals.
There’d also be no one around to commit armed robbery (aka civil asset forfeiture) on the side of the road.
You cannot physically attack a restrained person under your care/detention. It is abuse beyond any reason. I am truly saddened by the number here that think it was acceptable. I am not sure what that says for their character.
I don’t much care for the police. They answer to the corrupt government and not the people. So maybe my own faults are clouding my judgement. I don’t think so.
I agree.
Yah, if she was diseased that is one way to transmit. It was assault.
MS-13 would be your police.
Nature abhors a vacuum.
Slap, push, face shove,...forcefully moving her mouth in another direction.
Couple days unpaid off probably, some additional “training”.
usually if a person in custody spits, they just put a mask over their mouth...
as a nurse for many years I can tell you that we put up with spitting, kicking, hitting, biting, squeezing, and all manner of abuse yet we don't punch our patients back....
it wasn't much of a punch, it barely phased her, but it was not a good reaction..
