'Patriotic Millionaires' Won't Sign Pledge to Pay More Taxes Voluntarily

The Patriotic Millionaires organization, whose millionaire members claim they want to pay higher taxes to the federal government, were unwilling to sign a pledge to do just that because it would require them as individuals to voluntarily pay higher taxes. Instead, the Patriotic Millionaires want Congress to pass laws making all millionaires pay more in taxes.

“A bunch of millionaires said they want to pay higher taxes and they’re advocating for it, but they won’t sign a pledge saying they’re willing to pay the taxes that they endorse,” said Stepehn Moore, a co-founder of the Committee to Unleash Prosperity.

At an April 18 (Tax Day) press conference outside the U.S. Capitol, millionaire Morris Pearl, a former BlackRock executive and current chairman of the Patriotic Millionaires, said, “We are a group of hundreds of wealthy Americans and business leaders united in our concern about historic levels of inequality and the destabilizing level of wealth and power in America. I’m joined by Dr. Abigail Disney and a few dozen other members of Patriotic Millionaires here today with one request to our lawmakers in there: Tax us! We want to pay higher taxes and everyone else wants to pay higher taxes as well.” […]

However, when asked if they would sign a pledge to voluntarily pay more taxes, neither Morris Pearl, Abigail Disney, nor any of the other Patriotic Millioniares at the press conference would do so. […]

“I’ve got pens; let’s get people to sign these,” said Moore. “You said you wanted to pay more taxes.”

Pearl then interjected, “We said we wanted to change the system.”

Moore replied, “No; you said you wanted to pay more taxes. … Don’t you think it’s your patriotic duty to pay more taxes?”

None of the millionaires present signed the pledge, reported Moore. …

Can’t they just write a check today? Will the Treasury department not cash it?

That was a great video clip of Moore trying to get these hypocrites to sign those agreements! The guys on LFS6B played it last night.

(Nobody said they can’t pay as much as they want to every April.(

Why should they? The government squanders hundreds of billions in working against the interests of the actual people who pay taxes and make this country work. Why contribute voluntarily to the people who are actively working to bring the country’s downfall?

Yes, you can already pay extra. There’s a line or form, I forget. Or you can just deduct less than you’re entitled to.

If it is voluntary it is not a tax.
If it is voluntary, that would make it a contribution.
Words have meanings. Maybe that is why contracts have words.

They have always had the ability to voluntarily send in more money than the law requires. If you owe $100,00o, the IRS will not refuse a check for $150,000.

The FBI has a form any citizen can fill out and sign that makes them a Prohibited Person regarding firearms. Those forms should be put up to all the gun control lunatics every time they open their trap

I wonder how many of these “patriotic” progressives live in “diverse” neighborhoods? Nothing is stopping them from living in Detroit or Baltimore. I bet they don’t even hire illegal brown people to clean and maintain their properties.

"'Patriotic Millionaires' Won't Sign Pledge to Pay More Taxes Voluntarily"

Why don't these millionaires and billionaires start a win/win movement to put a permanent stop to unconstitutional federal taxes for all taxpayers by effectively "seceding" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by repealing the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A).

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

Also, primarying RINOs in 2022 was hopefully just for practice.

In fact, patriots who regularly read Free Republic can probably pick better MAGA candidates for primarying remaining RINOs in 2024 than Trump does imo. Trump seems to be getting questionable advice about his MAGA endorsements from institutionally indoctrinated political party advisors imo.
