But that really wasn't the point.
“Young people’s jaws drop, when they are shown films like Airplane, Blazing Saddles, etc. They can’t believe such films were ever allowed to be made.”
Those films were brilliant as they took no prisoners of prejudice. It was all fun but at the same time exposing the ignorance of prejudice be it black white or anything in between.
Mel Brooks was an extreme talent as director and the governor.
I looked at his Wikipedia profile. Many things he has done, only one I watched, “The Larry Sanders Show,” which I enjoyed. Everything else does not interest me.
The Zucker brothers also did “Top Secret” starring Val Kilmer back in ‘84. That is probably my all-time favorite comedy. So hilariously ridiculous!
‘Airplane was made over 40 years ago and it’s still funny!’
it was based on the 1957 flick Zero Hour, with Robert Stack; a lot of the joke lines in Airplane were taken verbatim from ZH, dialogue that was supposed to be serious...
‘we’ve got to find someone who can fly this plane, and who didn’t have fish for dinner...’
Interesting. I never knew that.
