A for attractive: Good-looking female college students saw their grades DROP during Covid pandemic 'when professors couldn't see their faces', study claims

Attractive females saw their grades drop when classes and exams moved online during the pandemic, a study suggests.

Adrian Mehic, a post-doctoral researcher at Lund University, analyzed the scores of 300 male and female engineering students in Sweden before and after Covid hit.

A panel of more than 70 separate participants to grade the attractiveness of each student based on photographs of their faces.

The study found a significant decline in average college grades among attractive female students — but only in 'qualitative' courses where teachers and students were more likely to interact.

These include classes like business and economics, where exams and coursework are graded subjectively.

In quantitative courses — like math and physics — where answers are usually simply correct or incorrect, the same trend was not observed. There was also no trend among males.

Grades from the first two years of a five-year engineering program were pulled - because they featured more general studies instead of specialized courses.

After controlling for age, gender, and the gender of the professor in each course, Mehic found that there was a clear benefit to attractive students in qualitative courses

He said the benefit was not enough to carry a floundering student to the top of the class, but did give a small boost of a few percentage points.

When the COVID-19 pandemic struck Sweden, and much of the world, in early 2020, schools were forced to use video apps like Zoom for instruction.

In many cases, professors would not even know how many of their students looked and face-to-face interactions were near extinct.

During this period, the benefits that attractive female students had in qualitative courses disappeared

So many social studies done confirm attractive men/women get better service, better career advancement, lesser sentences, and of course, can say stuff that would get you called into HR for harassment.

This is so unfair! Giving grades based solely on test scores and performance is marginalizing entitled people identifying as female or attractive females. This could lead to a breakdown in society.

It’s always tempting to impute unlikely virtue to the cute

Either PJ (not Beto) ORourke or Ogden Nash I’ve seen both attributed

Its a universal human bias

But when you know it exists, you can compensate for it...

Like I do, everyone is an a$$hole, some are just nicer to look at. :)

This is really a problem in the military.

Generals have mastered the promotion system and not the war fighting system.

There's the problem with this generation. They are illiterate enough to write 'qualitative' where the correct term is 'quantitative'.

Compared to physics, economics is, as a discipline, more subjective—though it depends on the particular facet. English is much more subjective.

That said, given the harpies that run English departments (or wore yet Womyn STUDies,), I’d expect that there would be an inverse correlation, which is why the hot chicks should take econ and business—and marry a guy who doesn’t think that being brainwashed and abused by feminists is the way to get ready for a career or become a better person.

But what about grumpy female professors who don’t like the idea of pretty girls trading on their looks? Black women who don’t like white girls? Or homosexual professors?

The professoriate is such a mixed, “diverse” lot of left wingers that I don’t know if there is a specific pretty girl boost. Good-looking people tend be rated higher in general, earn more, but there are always exceptions, pockets of hostility.

But blind grading is an excellent idea! No lookism, racism, ageism, sexism, classism, genderism, nativism, nothing but the pure life of the mind! All classes must be held online.

But what do we do about Harrison Bergeron?
