So I'm on this debate on Twitter.
Here, fellow FReepers is the God's honest truth.
I am 53 years old. I'm not a recluse. I have family, friends, co-workers, all over the United States. I'm socially active.
I do not know a single person who has died from Covid. I do not know a single person who has been hospitalized with Covid. I have not once received a phone call that someone I know has died from this.
I DO KNOW several people who have gotten Covid, all have recovered. Most said it felt like a weird cold. One friend of mine said it kicked his ass. None of them went to the hospital with it. All have been fine.
I read about hospitals overwhelmed with patients on life support, dying.
Seriously, am I living some strange sheltered existence where this disease doesn't exist?
I died a little when I had to read Ovid in Latin.
Very strange indeed given the many millions who have been touched by this virus - you are beyond fortunate and unusual.
Never have I seen as many people either die or people I know well lose close loved ones to the degree this virus has caused - including people losing multiple close loved ones in a short period of time. A friend of mine lost his mother and his younger brother within one week. Even more who became deathly ill and got into scary situations.
Also work in an industry that has been very effected by this virus in particular - totally overwhelming to the point of crippling, until after the vaccines became available and then things not only stabilized they virtually disappeared for a few months...with a bit of an uptick when Delta broke out. Nothing whatsoever from Omicron yet...a sign this variant may be far less of an issue.
Bella, I’m in my 40s, work, and have a big net. I literally know no one.
I have had coworkers tell me about people they know that died of COVID. I pressed... EVERY ONE said something like “Yeah, well, we had expected it for a while”.
This is a major reason for my skepticism here. I’m just not seeing the carnage.
I knew three, two in their eighties, and one in her nineties. Two of them were in bad condition beforehand, the other was still working, but overweight.
My brother-in-law died early in the pandemic before testing was available for people who were not politicians or health care workers. He was on hospice care for an inoperable brain tumor. When he died it was called “presumptive covid”.
I live in a small town and when someone dies you hear about it, I know of about 8 who have died of Covid none who died from the vax.
I knew (dead from covid):
62 year old man (husband of coworker)
50 something man (Uncle of my nephew’s wife)
30 year old man (kid from my son’s school)
50 something man (Business competitor)
I knew (dead from vaccine):
Early 70’s man, rapid dementia and death within weeks of vaccine
Late 30’s woman with young kids, dead in sleep night of vaccine
Know “Of” others who were permanently damaged from covid (friends or families of friends)
Also no many more that had covid, had no major issues and are now fine. Some have not regained taste or smell in more than a year.
That’s a pretty rare case for that age bracket. Any co-morbidities?
I knew two people who died, a man in his 80s with prior health problems, and a woman of 60 or so.
My uncle was hospitalized and very ill, but recovered. 79 y.o.
They have all been affected in different ways....
Initial data seems to indicate the vaxed are more likely to get omicron.
I know of one person who allegedly died from Covid.
Eighty-five years old with bad lungs from years of heavy smoking.
He was hospitalized and God knows what they did to treat him.
For those hospitalized with Covid you have to wonder if it really was Covid, of their” treatment” protocol, that killed them.
Either way, it’s counted as a Covid death.

I know, or know of (a colleagues wife who I’ve never met for instance) about 90 people that have or have had Covid. No one has died. Only two were hospitalized. One was a 71 year old diabetic, the other is my 90 year old uncle, both recovered.
Small town here also. The 9-10 I know who died were all local except my fraternity brother. He actually made the national news because he wrote an anti vax letter that made national news then 2 weeks later got covid and died
A 29 year old guy in my town died of covid and he was an athlete.
It happens
Not until this year when they died fully jabbed and diseased ...
Remdesivir is what kills them, and if they go on a ventilator as well, they are mostl likely going to die.
You must not get out much. My count is 13 friends/family who contracted covid, four were hospitalized, and two died. This isn't counting casual acquaintances. And, I live in a very rural county.
“We still do not have a standard medical protocol”
Sure we do. It’s whatever the Fauci goblin pulls out of his ass on any given day. The protocol language is: Do what Fauci says without question.
