It’s been a less merry holiday scene at the White House this year under COVID-19′s shadow. President Joe Biden and first lady Jill Biden have replaced the packed parties and overflowing buffet tables of the past with food-free open houses, face masks and testing for the unvaccinated.
Beyond the impact on Biden’s first Christmas in office, the virus and its variants largely put the kibosh on the entire White House social scene for 2021, starting with an inauguration that positioned flags in place of people on the National Mall.
“I think it’s been really tough on them,” said Philip Dufour, who was Vice President Al Gore’s social secretary. He noted that many events were not held while the president and first lady did others over Zoom.
Major social events scrubbed from the calendar included the White House ball for the nation’s governors and the Easter Egg Roll, the second straight year that springtime ritual has been canceled. […]

It works out in his favor. Joe Biden the Politician used to have half of a brain. He needed it to survive on the Beltway for 35+ years. He can blame the virus until the midterms. Then after that, he’ll be a lame duck President and Mayor Pete will be the sacrificial lamb for ‘24 (better candidates like Gavin Newsom will wait until ‘28 when the political environment favors the Dems again).
I’m hoping he trips over the new puppy and busts up his head. Preferably on a staircase.

Meanwhile, poor little [formerly] deprived Boo got 3 nice new toys for Christmas.
She was so excited but couldn’t play with them all at once, so she kept picking different ones and piling the others between her arms, against her chest, just so they wouldn’t up and ‘disappear on her’, maybe.
Stuff that nearly makes ya cry.
In the shelter, she had no toys of her own, for safety reasons, maybe and for the meet and greet, they handed her a little stuffy which she loved but took it away from her when she went back to her kennel.
I’ll never forget the look on her face, when that little cheap toy was taken away.
She went from having nothing and no one to having everything, at all once.
I think she’s happy.

That idiotic photo of Jill, (just Jill) with a decor brain dead arch of empty red boxes says it all.
Society can’t last that long under rule like this.
He stole the presidency. That’s all that counts and that’s all that should be focused on.
In the meantime, Brandon’s buddy Obama, had a huge birthday celebration with hundreds of guests, mostly unmasked, and no one said boo. And you can bet there will be an even bigger one for Moochelle in January.

The spayed dogs that I had weren’t big on toys until they came out of season. Then, they each had one toy from which they were inseparable., until it was “weaned.” It wasn’t a phenomenon I was familiar with. They slept curled up with it, took it on rides and walks. Then one day, nothing. One time it was deemed weaned when Mia chewed them end off of it.
Make that unspayed.
