While Brits enjoy an extra hour in bed this weekend, royal staff have spent hours turning back the 1,500 timepieces inside Her Majesty’s official residences.
The clock change, which falls on the last Sunday of October, means that at 2am yesterday the time in the UK went back to 1am as Greenwich Mean Time replaced British Summer Time.
Reminding Brits of the clock change, the Royal Family offered an insight into the numerous timepieces inside Windsor Castle, Berkshire, where Her Majesty is currently recovering after a stay in hospital, on their official Instagram page.
A team of horological conservators worked through the weekend to tweak the 400 timepieces on the estate, 250 of which are located inside the castle.

Here in Arizona there is no Daylight savings time. I prefer it that way.

I’m sure that next weekend my wife will be reminding the resident clock master to turn the clocks back.

Same. Unfortunately, my employer is not in Arizona, so my schedule shifts when the time is reset in other states.

The only thing I like about it is the reminder to change the batteries in my smoke detectors, but I’m sure there could be other ways to remember that.

In the US, clocks change on Sunday November 7, which makes us superior to the UK.
My resident clockmaster is on standby.

If not for daylight savings time the sun will come up at 4 AM in the northeast.
If anything they should switch to daylight savings time and keep it that way.

The Florida legislatures passed a law getting rid of DST but the US congress must also pass a bill to allow the state to end DST. So far the US congress has not acted.

To each his own, of course, but I’d rather have standard time all year round. I live very close to 90º West so standard time is very close to ‘God’s time’ which was what was observed before railroads necessitated standard time. Noon was easily determined by observing when the sun stopped rising in the sky.

Let’s set the clock back, way back, on the entire House of Windsor instead.
