A poll published Wednesday has shown that ties between Germany and the United States have improved with the election of US President Joe Biden.
Former US President Donald Trump had pressured Germany over its failure to meet NATO’s defense spending obligations and Berlin’s insistence on buying Russian natural gas, among other issues. Both of those issues still irk the White House, but officials in Europe agree that US foreign policy has taken a less confrontational approach toward Europe since Biden took office.
The YouGov survey of 2,000 respondents found that 66% believed relations had improved between Germany and the US, and 19% said nothing changed.
Last year, a similar poll found that only 19% of Germans viewed the US as a friendly ally. The figure jumped to 42% this year.
The number of Germans who consider the US ill-disposed to their country fell from 27% last year to 11%. […]
Biden said after meeting German Chancellor Angela Merkel earlier this month that the ties between the two countries were “stronger than ever.” …

Germany gets more Russian fossil fuel.
I see worse relations with Germany since Biden took office. Germany is seeking to become more energy dependent on Russia.
Germans are still stupid , do they remember WWII ?
Do you know what the Dims and Bushes call tariffs against American products? "Free trade"
Considering that’s from the deutche welle, I don’t believe it’s anything more than propaganda.
Germans are real good at propaganda.
America is paying its bills again.
Deutche Welle? Who paid for this bit of nonsense?
Doesn’t everyone favor the parent that gives them money and doesn’t hold them accountable for anything?
The EUSSR does not like upstart independent nations.
I lived in Germany for four years. I lived in a small village, in a house I rented.
This does not surprise me the least bit.
Germans are statists and followers, and will do what their “betters” tell them.
All the “Blut, Isen und Strum” was killed off in two world wars.
The thin ties, or the wide ties? Solid, or a pattern?
There’s a saying, “Nobody loves you like family... and nobody hates you like family.” The Trumps ditched Kallstadt for America, and the Krauts are still mad.
And why not. The man can be bought...cheap.
Yep
Yeah I see the resemblance and strong ties with the evil Biden’s regime ...can you say brown shirts! Never forget the 6 million Jews that perished under the Merkel passed down German socialist regime! They learned nothing!
I know many Europeans and IMHO, they suffer from statist/progressive group-think at a rate much higher than Americans. Americans still pay lip-service to individual opinion and freedom of speech.
In Europe if their corporate-state media tell them “Orange Man Bad” the sheep across the bond really fall in line.
“...Iran redoubles efforts towards nukes.”
I suspect Iran is going to collapse before they get nukes. There have been a substantial number of mysterious explosions. Generally, they aren’t on the news, but you can find them on YouTube. I was in heavy industries for 33 years. In all of that time none of the companies I was associated with experienced anything like the explosions and fires Iran is seeing. In general, it’s not that easy to create explosion’s of that magnitude through accidents. The facilities damaged are associated with the nuclear program, drone manufacturing, other armaments and oil, the economic engine that drives Iran.
Someone has taken an interest in making Iran spectacularly unlucky. Pretty sure it isn’t the present US administration. I’d guess that Saudi Arabia and Israel have combined resources to nudge Iran towards bankruptcy, which will stop the nuclear program dead. Even if Biden sends pallets of cash, it won’t be enough to keep them afloat.
