Exclusive: Former President George W. Bush told Fox News on Wednesday that Iran is “dangerous” for stability in the Middle East and the world, while warning that a two-state solution amid the Israeli-Palestinian conflict will be “very difficult at this stage.”
In an exclusive interview with Fox News about his new book, “Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants,” Bush highlighted the story of Mariam Memarsadeghi — an Iranian immigrant who, during the Iranian Revolution of 1979, came to the United States and has dedicated her career to the pursuit of democracy in Iran.
When asked about the ongoing Israeli-Palestinian violence, Bush told Fox News that what “you’re seeing playing out is Iranian influence targeted toward Israel.”
“I think the best approach with regard to Iran is to understand that their influence is dangerous for world peace, that they are very much involved with extremist movements in Lebanon and Syria and Yemen, and they are aiming to spread their influence,” Bush told Fox News, when asked about how the U.S. should engage with Tehran.
“Any deal that is done has got to not only focus on its nuclear capabilities, but also its influence in the Middle East,” Bush continued. “And you know, any deal, you’ve got to keep in mind the dangers of an aggressive Iran to our allies, and to stability, so it has to be a comprehensive look.” …

Well, yeah. So why don’t you advocate for the US to invade some other country, like Peru or Greece? After all W, you are an expert when it comes to starting stupid and unnecessary wars.
When will these 20th century imbeciles realize that the Palis do not want a “two state solution?” they never have, and even if Israel is open to it, the palis are not. As usual, W is whistling dixie.
There already IS a two state ‘problem’. Gaza the lab experiment has utterly failed that test. Only demented leftards and hateful hacks will push forward for a greater a Palestinian state. Israel won’t have peace with neighbors who wish them pushed into the sea.
Iran is the head snake but W attacked Iraq instead for daddy Bush’s revenge. What a waste of precious American blood.
He’s right about a 2-state solution. But the real problem nobody talks about is that the Palestinian’s can’t accept one. Hamas rules Gaza and is tied to Iran’s sphere, their goal is to make all of the land an Islamic state. Separate rulers in West Bank are tied to more moderate countries, and Europe. They might accept it. So first off, you have 2 separate peoples ruled by separate ‘governments’ with divergent ideologies.
Second, they have a “refugee” problem. They spent decades, generations, talking about “right of return” for the great great great grandchildren of people who claimed to be refugees in 1948. They are the only people in the world who the UN allows to be called “refugees” in perpetuity, even after many generations born and died. These people won’t be able to fit into Gaza. Israel won’t let but a token number in. And the West Bank will absolutely refuse to let millions of unskilled people to move into their back yard. So, the Palestinians can’t take a deal.
The only solution is to influence Lebanon and Syria and others to grant them full citizenship rights in the countries they now live. The only place that does, afaik, is Jordan and Israel. But Jordan won’t be inviting in any newcomers from Lebanon either.
Iraq was yet another funder of Hamas. What Dubya did worse was to actually invite Iran into Iraq on the oh-so-brilliant advice of the Democrats (and RINOs), even before they became the majority in 2007, because of “peaceful Shi’ite majority” you know.
Says the man whose free trade deals resurrected the communist threat we are now facing.
The two state solution was always fantasy.
One strongly advocated by the GW Bush presidency.
And if Gaza is any indication of what a two state solution is? Secondly, there is no ethnic group of people called Palestinians, just some folks living there who migrated from the trans-Jordan area centuries back and not all of the Arabs.
“Former President George W. Bush told Fox News on Wednesday that Iran is “dangerous” for stability in the Middle East”
I guess no one informed him that he’s SIDING WITH CONSERVATIVES on this issue, so now that’s it out there, I expect him to walk it back.
The Palestinian people does not exist. The creation of a Palestinian state is only a means for continuing our struggle (jihad) against the state of Israel for our Arab unity. […] Only for political and tactical reasons do we speak today about the existence of a Palestinian people, since Arab national interests demand that we posit the existence of a distinct “Palestinian people” to oppose Zionism. …To “oppose Zionism” is to oppose the existence of the very State of Israel. And by “Arab unity”, this means pan-Arabism (modeled on pan-Germanism) and that entails in their view the land of Israel being Judenrein.
Well, George, you might have thought about this before you decided to join the Nevertrumpers and support Bite-me. Haven’t you noticed he ended Trump’s sanctions and has unleashed Iran on Israel and our other allies in the Middle East??
Oh good grief - YOU MADE THIS SITUATION W.
Promote free trade with all nations regardless of communist affiliation and regardless of whether or not items could be used for war.Anyone who implements any of these goals has to be presumed as working against the USA.
— Communist goal #4
“...Iran is “dangerous” for stability in the Middle East..”
Iraq was the perfect counter balance to Iran and this was known for decades. Then along comes Bush and effs that up completely.
Bush is a moron. Even if he’s right he’s still a criminal.
Surprised he didn’t agree with Biden.
Well I see that as mostly propaganda, not pragmatism. Different world now. Pan-Arabism never worked anywhere. Only barely worked in Iraq under an iron hand. Take away the ruler and they descend into civil war. Neither did Pan Americanism. The Guatemalans can’t even get along with the Mexicans and so forth.
Not to say I disagree, that has been the Arabists stated policies. Which makes it all the more difficult for them to contemplate a deal. They have been turning down deals for at least 80 years. But as far as Islamism goes, I don’t see the West Bank people going for Hamas style theocracy writ large.
