In a letter to the spring meeting of the World Bank and the International Monetary Fund, Pope Francis called for the creation of new institutions of “global governance” to help advance the “integral human development of all peoples.”
He also said the “financial industry” should calculate the “ecological debt” of countries “so that developed countries can pay it.…”
We cannot “overlook another kind of debt: the ‘ecological debt’ that exists, especially between the global north and south,” said the Pope in his April 8 letter. “We are, in fact, in debt to nature itself, as well as the people and countries affected by human-induced ecological degradation and biodiversity loss.”
“In this regard, I believe that the financial industry, which is distinguished by its great creativity, will prove capable of developing agile mechanisms for calculating this ecological debt, so that developed countries can pay it, not only by significantly limiting their consumption of non-renewable energy or by assisting poorer countries to enact policies and programs of sustainable development, but also by covering the costs of the innovation required for that purpose,” he explained. …

Attention all Catholics
Quit paying Peter’s Pence
While the “ecological debt” that developed countries are to pay in a recent add-on, yet the theme of new institutions of 'global governance' to help advance the “integral human development of all peoples” is nothing new:
ENCYCLICAL LETTER CARITAS IN VERITATE, October 4, 1965 67. To manage the global economy; to revive economies hit by the crisis; to avoid any deterioration of the present crisis and the greater imbalances that would result; to bring about integral and timely disarmament, food security and peace; to guarantee the protection of the environment and to regulate migration: for all this, there is urgent need of a true world political authority as my predecessor Blessed John XXIII indicated some years ago...
such an authority would need to be universally recognized and to be vested with the effective power to ensure security for all, regard for justice, and respect for rights. Obviously it would have to have the authority to ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties,....
The integral development of peoples and international cooperation require the establishment of a greater degree of international ordering, marked by subsidiarity, for the management of globalization. They also require the construction of a social order that at last conforms to the moral order, to the interconnection between moral and social spheres, and to the link between politics and the economic and civil spheres, as envisaged by the Charter of the United Nations.” (emphasis mine) http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/encyclicals/documents/hf_ben-xvi_enc_20090629_caritas-in-veritate_en.html
A "true world political authority," "vested with the effective power to... ensure compliance with its decisions from all parties" sounds too much like what the antiChrist "envisages," but with "regard for justice, and respect for rights" meaning punishing those who oppose such inequity as abortion rights, while "marked by subsidiarity" would means local liberal brownshirts dealing with order from the devil. Only when the Lord Jesus rules the world for a thousand years - which Catholicism does not believe - with a rod of iron over the rebellious that survived the Tribulation (Zechariah 14) will the lion lay down with the lamb. (Isaiah 11)
Yes, Scripture as the OT and NT is the only wholly inspired and substantive body of the word of God, and which - as regards the the Hebrew scriptures - provided the doctrinal and prophetic epistemological foundation for the NT church (Lk. 24:27,44,45) which progressively added to that body of writing, but if that is your supreme standard then you are not a Catholic (the many "true Catholics" here will tell you), thank God.
Catholic doctrine, as authoritatively proposed by the Church, should be held as the supreme law;... all interpretation is foolish and false which...is opposed to the doctrine of the Church.(Providentissimus Deus; http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/leo_xiii/encyclicals/documents/hf_l-xiii_enc_18111893_providentissimus-deus_en.html)
Well, Francis, sell the treasures stored in the Vatican museum and you can pay off any debt your self.
Has this fkn guy ever read the Bible?? There has been nothing he has done... Or said that even remotely resembles a scripture... SMH...
At gunpoint? He's 93. Good grief, you want folks forcing you out of retirement when you're 93? You don't think there's someone younger who can replace Francis, voluntarily?
According and due to the presumed power the RCC and popes have arrogated for themselves, you cannot depose a pope without his consent. Can a Pope be Removed from Office? and Can a Pope commit heresy?.
Bergoglio is what they call a “watermelon”... green on the outside, red on the inside.
See my post above. Such may be ignored, but not deposed without their own consent.
Well, as seen in post 22, its "new institutions of 'global governance'" is akin to the "world political authority" advocated by the Vatican for decades, and the idea of forced distribution of resources, ("significantly limiting their [advanced counties] consumption of non-renewable energy or by assisting poorer countries to enact policies and programs of sustainable development, but also by covering the costs of the innovation required for that purpose”) not only ignores the fact that countries as the US already substantially help poower nation due to their altruism and advanced tech, but corrupt governments much make or keep their populations impoverished, but its premise can lead to the "world political authority" foretold in Scripture.
And he causeth all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and bond, to receive a mark in their right hand, or in their foreheads: And that no man might buy or sell, save he that had the mark, or the name of the beast, or the number of his name. (Revelation 13:16-17)
Has the pope even read the book of Palms? Even Slow Joe has.
Where’s meh pope on a rope...
soap
The pope needs to mind his own business and worry more about cleaning up his own mess of a religion.
Or rather bricks without mud.
I say we send the bill to the Vatican for all of it.
L
This man hates the USA, and so he means that the USA must pay!
The Pope needs to tear down that evil Vatican wall!
Job 28:2
“Iron is taken from the dust, And copper is smelted from rock.
Seems the LORD was O.K. with mining, even encouraged it.
Well spoken Old Yeller.
By whom??
It's good to be the King!
