"Seems like a bad idea to me." Yes, in that particular context (i.e. a tourist, who doesn't know the cat), it is a stupid idea. The only time something like that is (marginally) less stupid, is in cases where it's a zookeeper, vet, or reproductive technician working on a tame, handraised animal, and training it for reproductive procedures. Still, very much a "don't try this unless you're an expert" sort of thing to do. Just like some idiot groping a bull for a "funny" selfie (which has happened a few times), winds up getting the *bigger* joke of getting a selfie of them receiving a cornada. :P
