It’s coming. Do not fool yourself. I expect in less than ten years, this will be a seriously discussed concept. You will see support coming from both parties, the way you see them support amnesty now. There may be different titles for it, all achieving the same result.

Yes, driverless cars are here. I try to avoid getting near them when i see that ‘spinning mixing bowl’ on the top.
But they are still almost as rare as Unicorns.
It wasn't too long ago that Universal Basic Income was primarily an idea of the political Right. Milton Friedman was a strong proponent of the "Negative Income Tax" as he called it, and it was the centerpiece of Nixon's 1971 proposed welfare reform (voted down by a Democrat-controlled congress.)
