"Play ball with dangerous, amoral people and we will devote ourselves to your political demise," the organizers wrote.
PARK SLOPE, BROOKLYN Brooklynites determined to stop President-Elect Donald Trump's agenda in its tracks will deliver their message to New York Senator and Park Slope resident Chuck Schumer on Jan. 7.
A rally planned for 1 p.m. outside Schumer's 9 Prospect Park West apartment building had been signed up for on Facebook by 169 people as of Thursday afternoon, with nearly 300 more saying they were interested.
"We, the people of NYC and New York State, vow to hound you day and night if you give so much as ONE INCH to Trump, congressional Republicans and their greed- and hate-filled, corporation-loving, civil-rights-hating agenda," the Facebook event posting explains.
The event's organizers, Tim Murphy and Adam Baran, also wrote that they expect Schumer to "obstruct the Trump agenda with the same ruthless thoroughness that Republicans in Congress have obstructed Obama's agenda the past eight years."
"You have a moral obligation not to let the ill-gotten, Russia-aided Trump presidency have ONE CRUMB of success," it continues. "This is exactly how Tea Party-driven Republicans treated Obama the past eight years--AND IT WORKED FOR THEM. Now it's time for the Dems to dig in."
"We need you now more than ever," the post concludes. "Stand up for your country and we will stand up for you. Play ball with dangerous, amoral people and we will devote ourselves to your political demise."
In his first Senate floor speech as Minority Leader, Schumer expressed a willingness to work with Trump and Republicans, so long as Democrats agreed with their legislative proposals.
"There are those who suggest that our baseline posture should be to work with the President-Elect and have him pass his whole agenda," Schumer said. "But it is not our job to be a rubber stamp. If the President-Elect proposes legislation...on issues like infrastructure and trade and closing the carried interest loophole, for instance, we'll work in good faith to perfect and potentially enact it. But when he doesn't we will resist."
He's talking about the Clintons, right?
What part of “in the minority” doesn’t compute?
How about who gives a rat’s.
If Rallies , Protests etc keeps them busy and happy let be at it ,LOL
So, we have what 6 or 7 million people in New York. 300 people show up, and it will be a major news story?
Cockfights in Brooklyn draw bigger crowds.
I’m fine with them protesting in front of Chuckie’s place. As much as they want.
Nine million.
“He’s talking about the Clintons, right? “
I thought the guy was referring to democrats in general
What? No calls for bipartisanship?
They will get 300 people, counting every reporter in a 100 mile radius who shows up to cover the story.
Yeah. Sounds like a great ####ing day to take the half hour drive to Park Slope with a ####ing Trump cap on.
This one is even funnier:
“The event’s organizers, Tim Murphy and Adam Baran, also wrote that they expect Schumer to “obstruct the Trump agenda with the same ruthless thoroughness that Republicans in Congress have obstructed Obama’s agenda the past eight years.”
I wouldn’t associate the word ruthless with the Republican Party when it comes to fighting the Rats.
Let the heathen rage. That’s what they always do.
Indeed. The GOP has had quite a bit of power since 2010 and they did absolutely NOTHING with it. I think that’s one reason Trump won: People know he’s not an established GOP member and that what they want. And if Mitch McConnell does what he’s talking about, he’ll be out on his a$$ next time, too.
Simple math shows that the Senate has a real chance of tipping more toward the GOP than is currently the case.
I suggest they use their PPACA mental health benefits before January 1, 2018.
We need a counterprotest!
Just did some research....unless I’m mistaken “Park Slope” is a place where you’ll find “The 1%” living.Very chic...very prosperous...quite expensive.
