Except for his unfortunate go along to get along support of TARP, bailouts, stimulus spending and the increased credit limit, etc, Ryan is a pretty good choice. Probably the best choice of the RINOS that were on Romney's short list. I support Ryan for the vice presidency. Wish he were at the top of the ticket, though.
But I still cannot and will not support the grand father of ObamaCare. Romney still loves and brags about his bastard brainchild, RomneyCare, even today when he knows what an anti-liberty socialist POS it is.
And the fact that he advocated that abortion should be safe and legal in America for over three decades of his adult lifetime and even advocated that Roe v Wade should be supported and sustained as settled law precludes any consideration whatsoever by this pro-life Christian for Myth Romney for the presidency.
And the fact that he boasted that he would be better for "gay rights" than Ted Kennedy, and proved it just increases my resistance.
That, and his penchant for gun control, his continuing support for global warming, gays in the scouts, gays in the military, and his record of appointing liberal judges makes it all but impossible for me to support him.
Lastly, we're having a bit of changeover on our moderator staff. At least two moderators resigned this afternoon after I flatly refused to rein in a so-called anti-Mormon "bigot" on FR. Well, if being in opposition to false prophets and false prophecy makes a Christian believer a bigot, then I guess I'm a bigot. I've posted before that I flat do not believe that the Book of Mormon is the true word of God. Nor do I believe that Joseph Smith was a prophet of God. The Christian bible warns us to be weary of false prophets and that I am. Romney being the presumptive Republican nominee does not change that fact.
Not from the important stuff.
So go vote for Romney, since he will direct you into an eternity without GOD's presense.
(Just like 85% or so of ALL Mormons!!)
what a deal!
1, 2, 3...
You've gotten some WRONG information!

71 year old man wrestled to the ground at a Paul Ryan event. Paul Ryan had asserted that programs like social security programs and medicaid were entitlement programs and the man went ballistic, rightfully so, I might add. While these programs need reform, people who paid into them and are 71 are hardly in a position to go back to work.
Sadly, Paul Ryan treats it as a joke rather than answer the question.
There’s nothing quite like the arrogance of the religiously pure...you know, those who can tell us all whom God has condemned for all eternity.
We’re not electing a pope here! We are electing a president. I leave God to handle the workings of this universe and country (Dan 4:17).
Can you possibly believe that ONLY Christians are conservatives? Conservatism is NOT a religion. What a man practices (his faith) is not our concern.
If you don’t like Romney, fine, don’t vote for him but do it on the basis of his policies, not his religious views because that makes you a bigot. If you want to be a bigot that is fine too!
These programs pay out FAR FAR FAR more than these people ever paid in.
Im sick of these greedy old people who act like welfare cases when the math is plainly clear that they are bleeding the system dry.
Yeah, what facts do you have? Better look up “faith” in the dictionary.
That is completely intellectually dishonest. He did no such thing. Paul Ryan is a speaker at a Rotary event, that must go on and he needs a transition to put the focus back to the speech rather than the screaming disruption. So he makes a joke of the behavior of Tom Nielsen, not the question. The way Mr. Nielsen conducted his question is what denies any right of his to have the question answered in any rational way at that event.
Interesting also, here's the statement by Congressman Ryan that preceded the ballistic reaction that you call "righfully so" (Srsly?!) ...
"Most of our debt in the future comes from our entitlement programs ..."
That statement is a fact. And you need to do more research into the Social Security System, signed into law in 1935 by FDR and bastardized by the DemocRATS ever since then in so many ways. Way too many people take out more than they ever put in which is why SS is on life support and needs critical reform which Paul Ryan is properly fiscally recommending.
Bottom line, government should have never been in the nanny state business of confiscatory retirement planning. That is up to the individual which is also a part of Paul Ryan's point.
You are so welcome!
You know, for those who wonder, or question whether the LDS faith is Christian, let me recite the words of a song we teach our Primay age (4-12) kids. I teach the 10 year olds at church. This song has a wonderful tune...it touches the heart, and I find myself humming and singing it to myself during the day. The kids all learn it, and memorize it:
I’m Trying to be like Jesus
“Sometime I am tempted to make the wrong choice,
The the Spirit whispers in a still, small voice, saying,
“Love one another as Jesus loved you,
Try to show kindness in all that you do.
Be gentle and loving in deed and in thought,
For these are the things Jesus taught.”
Children who grow up learning and seeing this in their lives, internalize it, themselves and usually come to Christ, accepting His atonement and redemption in their lives, and try and live like Him. That benefits all of us...our entire society.
Truth be told, this happening in Christian denominations throughout the country was the vision of our founders, because such people will govern themselves without the need of a burdensome, over-reaching government. It is at the heart of America and why it is free and prosperous.
I pray we preserve it for our children and grnadchildren...and we can start doing that this November in a big way.
My religion is based on the facts in the Bible. There's faith involved, but the foundation is solidly factual.
Guess that make you an obot troll then.
Mormans say the same about their bible. Muslims say the same about their koran. Need I go on?
That is my memory of events. I will ping Jim to ask him to have a say in this.
It is clear Jim has not intention of supporting Romney under any circumstances now...and although I do not agree with it, I respect it...and can undertsand, given Romney's past record, why that is so.
But, my position is that Romney is not running on his past record as regards abortion, homosexual rights, gun control, etc. He has a web site where he has laid out a very conservative agenda for addressing our nation's economic and social issues. Romney did better than most of us expected in his VP pick, which I view as a signal that he intends to stand by those conservative commitments he is making now...which are anything but pro-abortion, pro-homosexualoity, anti-gun, etc., etc. that is dredged up from his past.
Perhaps it is all just political and not a true, heart-felt change on Romney's part. I do not claim to be able to see into a man's heart and make that absolute judgement. I will leave that to God. I can understand how people would not trust him, and in almost any other circumstance I would much prefer to see him spend a few years as a Senator or other elected representative proving the sincerity of his new-found positions.
But we do not have the luxury of that now.
Romney was not my first, second, third or fourth pick. But he won the GOP primaries and he is what we have to go against a self-admitted homosexual abetting, most abortion supporting politician in history who is right now, abjectly destroying this Republic, its economy, its free market, its foreign policy, its borders, its moral values, etc., etc..
So I will take Romney's word and his commitments...along with the endoresements of conservatives he has now gotten from people I have deep respect for over that American-hating individual who currently occupies the White House. I believe we must have an absolute, all-hands effort to not give that radical the opportunity for four more years to complete the job of destroying this country and "fundamentally changing" it that he has begun.
If I am wrong about Jim's positive comments in 2008 about Romney over McCain (and I do not think I am), then it is a simple mistake and not a "lie" in the least. It was just about as hectic around here in 2008 as it is now.
You, however, seem so anxious to discount anything that might be said positive about Romney in the upcoming contest between him and Obama that you will fire off absolutes regarding people's character and intent, when you could not be futher from the truth. You do not know my heart. You do not have enough experience with me personally (IMHO) to make the type of absolute judgement regarding my intent and character that you made. I am telling you to your face that I did not lie. Plain and simple, as I have explained here.
I hope that helps your understanding of who I am and why I said what I did. But in the end, what you think of me does not impact my statement or position.
Jim? Did you make some positive comments about Romney in the heat of the 2008 campaign when we all took part in trying to deny McCain the nomination?
BTW, Gator, thanks for your kind words regarding me in your response. We have been discussing the preservation of our Republic for many years now here on FR, and I appreciate your support and defense of my character and honor. God's speed to you my FRiend.
AMERICA AT THE CROSSROADS OF HISTORY
http://www.jeffhead.com/crossroads.htm
We do have the Book of Mormon which we posit to be an ancient record from the America's and God's dealing with a break off group of the House of Israel who were guided to these shores about 600 BC as a part of the scattering of Israel spoken of in the Old Testament.
Hope that helps you undertsand our position on those scriptures.
It's not a conservative site anymore. It is a bunch of spoiled brats who refuse to acknowledge the grave danger the US is in. Pathetic.
You’ve shouldn’t have a beef with me. Did you read my previous posts, especially #2546?
The archeological evidence and FACTS that have been and continue to be found in the ME support the Bible.
There is no physical evidence of any kind to support the BoM.
Oh, and Mormons place a “qualifier” on the Holy Bible, “...as far as it is translated correctly.” Thus opening the door to personal interpretation and so-called “continual revelation”.
