Dongyang - Egg vendors across the city of Dongyang are getting ready for the start of busy times. They are getting ready to cook up urine soaked eggs that local residents love.
The city is located in the coastal Zhejiang province. The urine soaked eggs are considered a unique springtime snack.
The snack is called virgin boy eggs and the key ingredient in them is boys urine, which is collected from primary school toilets, according to Reuters. Vendors prefer that the urine comes from kids below the age of 10.
There really is no explanation as to why the key ingredient has to be boys urine. It has been that way for centuries though.
According to the New York Daily News, the eggs are heated over a stove but not before they are soaked in the urine. The eggs shells are then taken off and then the eggs are placed back into more urine to soak. This continues while more urine is being poured. One batch of these eggs takes an entire day to make.
The eggs are favored by many of the local residents. Some of the residents even go out to collect the urine themselves so they can cook the snack in their own homes, according to Asia One.
Residents say that the delicacy actually decreases body heat as well as reinvigorates the body and promotes better blood circulation.

For whatever reason, I feel like I’m understanding Kafka a whole lot more. Feh.
Weird is just weird. More and more, life is becoming a choice between you shall not, or you shouldn’t For some odd reason, that subtlety seems to be lost on a SIGNIFICANT portion of the global population.

I was about to ping you on this delicacy discovery, My, since our fondness for good old Filipino Baluts came to mind but you beat me here.
Don't let this put you off Chinese cuisine.....just dine with a translator to be safe.
