Here is the why Romney will be the republican nominee and why Perry or Cain or Bachmann will not save the republicans. Romney is moving left on global warming and staying the course on Romneycare and you will see him take his natural left positions on other issues as the campaign gets underway. His goal is to attract as many democrat voters into the republican open primaries as possible to vote for him. Meanwhile , Bachmann has been brought into the race by the establishment as well as Cain who has no idea. Perry is coming in too. This is to split the Tea Party and conservative vote allowing Romney to win with whatever republican votes he gets plus the democrat crossovers as the democrats will not have a primary race with Obama running unopposed.
I believe Sarah Palin knows this. I think Palin also believes the republican party is worthless. Like us , she has watched them sell out once they got the House back as the current leadership is from the same group of republicans who passed big government and huge deficits under Bush and voted for TARP and bailouts. Boehner and Cantor was there for it all. Just the other night Palin said she was watching and hoping she didn't have to go rogue on them.
The big debate has been , is Palin running? She seems to be and at the same time , doesn't seem to be. I think she is running for President but not for the republican nomination. I think she will send shock waves through the political establishment when she does announce that she is running as an Independant , going rogue. That is why she is in no hurry to announce and can wait pass the filing deadlines for republican primaries. Organizing4Palin is in 50 states , she has enough people to get on the ballot in all 50 states. The bus tours , the movie Undefeated is part of a general election strategy instead of a republican primary strategy. Her famous speech in Wisconsin was as much against republicans as it was against democrats.
Please don't bombart this thread with , no third party posts and how it will hand Obama another term. That is just plain false. Obama has sunk so low that his campaign is hopeless. Imagine the state of the race if Romney is the nominee. If you think people sat out because of McCain , you have not seen anything yet. The middle between Obama and Romney will be wide open and a conservative candidate could beat them both easily. Perot lead Clinton and Bush in 92 before he dropped out and got back in again.
May sound dumb, but my Mother used kerosene on us kids for chigger bites. She said if we got to scratching, would pull off their biting appendage, leave it under the skin and get infected, all I know is it worked.

Here’s one staunch conservative who WOULD vote for Romney over Obama. (What a ridiculous claim you made!)
Here’s one staunch conservative who WOULD vote for Romney over Obama. (What a ridiculous claim you made!)
Let's imagine it's Obama vs. Romney vs. Palin.
Who will get the majority of ELECTORAL COLLEGE votes? Answer: none of them.
So the election will be thrown into the House of Representatives. The House will probably be 55% Republican and 45% Democrat. How many of them will vote for 3rd party Palin? Very few, certainly not a majority.
So if Palin runs a 3rd party, she automatically loses. Automatically.
One thing I am absolutely sure of, Sarah Palin loves this Nation and its people. Though her detractors don't want to admit it, what she did in resigning a governorship was more principled than any politician has done in my lifetime: she resigned from a job she was doing well until both political parties' establishment goons decided to try and assassinate her with lawsuits which hurt Alaska more than Sarah. I have Alaskan friends who will tell you exactly that, because they were first hand witnesses to the bullshyte.
How does that enter into the calculations of what Sarah is trying to do now? ... No, she is not trying to become a millionaire exploiting the woes of her nation, and anyone offering that crap should be shunned immediately as not worthy of rational discussion. What is Sarah Palin up to, given the current crop of rinos, and weak candidates for national election? Let's look at the possibilities. She is not the feckless pubby also ran type person willing to let the bastard establishment herd We The People.
If Sarah can gain the Republican nomination, it would mean that democrats crossing over to vote int the pubby primaries either voted for her or could not change the tidal wave out-pouring for Sarah by casting their votes for the beatable Romney or Bachmann. ... I better pause to fix myself a drink at this point before continuing, because I can already sense the slams coming my way.
There is one thing absolutely sure that America needs at this late hour in our destruction: we need pubbies to control the House and have a veto proof majority in the Senate, if we are to save the Republic regardless of whether barry the bastard is re-elected. ow can that happen? ... Conservative voter turnout, accompanied by activated moderate voters who see the nation in death throes under the democrats.
The questions then becomes, in my mind at least:
1) How does one increase turnout of enough voters who are not dead-head democrat welfare dependents voting for more handouts?2) If Sarah runs in the pubby primaries and loses, how many conservative minded voters will bother to go to the polls in November?
3) If Sarah runs as a third party candidate and splits the pubby voting groups, but picks up moderate and disgruntle democrat votes, what effect will that have on the down ticket positions to be voted upon?
4) If Sarah stays out of the presidential squabble, and works to get conservatives elected, how much real influence can she have on trunout nationally, so that the democrap stranglehold is broken?
Answers, to me anyway are:
1) There is no insurance of informed voters coming to the polls because too many are already dumbed down to a disastrous level. But we the paying attention people have got to try to save our Republic;
2) How many disgruntled pubby Palin fans will vote anyway is a toss up, but I think if Sarah runs for the pubby nomination and does not get it, she will not slink away and lick her wounds because she loves this country too much to walk away from the dual at hand;
3) HERE is the real issue! The only way to save this Republic from the future hope for commie state and change to a federal oligarchy is for people to get off their lazy asses and vote the bastards out! If people have enough interest to go to the polls and vote for even a failed third party candidate, that puts these before detached slugs in a voting booth to cast down ballot votes!
4) Sarah PAlin can only cover so much ground and visit only so many districts and states up for grabs. She will have far more influence bringing people to the polls as a pubby nominee or third party candidate.
Anyway, that's my scenario and I'm stickin' to it ... for now. [BTW, Rick Perry, shut up and sit down; America is not going to elect another Texan this soon after the globalist experience with your friend George.]
“By the way, Holder/Obama do not like your using chiggers.
The Holder/Obama approved term is chigroes - got that?”
Excuse me, it is now Arachnid-Americans.
(Whigs lasted 23 years, not the 21 that I had posted)
My understanding is that the Whig party shutdown because it’s issues were no longer current, the Republican party was formed to advance it’s platform in 1854 and instantly started sweeping elections.
The Republicans held their first convention on July 6, 1854 and four months later held 19% of the Congress and 25% of the Senate, six years later they held the majority in the Congress, the majority in the Senate, and they had the Presidency.
That is a real possibility but if Romney should ascend to the position of sole candidate you can rest assured the GOP will have cut its own throat.
The problem with Sarah going independent is the problem it always will be; the party faithful will vote party line and the conservatives will Sarah, splitting the Republican vote and allowing Obastard to win.
Few “moderates” will vote for Sarah because Oprah told them to hate her.

Palin would be in more demand in her lifetime, and she would make more money in her lifetime if she ran for president.
Palin would be in much less demand and she would make less money than she is making now if she doesn't run.
Palin's so-called "kingmaker" influence, I believe is exaggerated by people who don't want her to run and by people who don't understand why some support Palin.
For example Palin is currently my number one choice. If Palin doesn't run, it would matter little to me who she endorses.
I do agree that we are in real danger of Tea Party voters splitting the Tea Party vote handing the nomination to Mitt.
