I've witnessed VERY frequent personality changes, although not quite like this, particularly among men who have gone through major cardiac surgeries and sometimes in those who have been saved from a heart attack. Hard-bitten, crusty old codgers will sometimes emerge as far gentler, more gracious people who are profoundly touched by what others might consider to be simple, everyday things.

Agreed as well....and there are times in a man's life when 'certain things' are paramount, and Mr. De Luca knows that doesn't have the time for a five-year courtship and then a marriage ritual such as what he may have enjoyed in his youth with who was then his wife-to-be.
