I love the trucks parked on the roadside packed with them and a sign proudly announcing "
CLEAN Fiddleheads!"
As if somehow rinsing off your lawn clippings transforms them into an epicurean delight.

I’m about as ‘damned’ yankee as you can get, and I find it pretty funny.
But then 1/2 my family is from Texas—the other 1/2 MA. My aunt had the weirdest accent known to mankind (born & raised in MA, lived in TX for 60 years). I thought my cousins from Texas spoke a different language till I was about 8.

I got yankees in my family too. I ain’t proud of but there ya go. When they come visit, they often say, “People need a passport to come down here!”
It ain’t me talkin’ funny. It’s them. :)

And then what happened? When you eekd across the border of Kansas? If he were north bound he crossed into Nebraska and promptly died of boredom.

It was the taxman's fault see, The Beatles proved it. One, two, three, four... Hrmm! One, two, (one, two, three, four!) Let me tell you how it will be; There's one for you, nineteen for me. 'Cause Im the taxman, Yeah, Im the taxman. Should five per cent appear too small, Be thankful I don't take it all. 'Cause Im the taxman, Yeah, Im the taxman. (if you drive a car, car;) - Ill tax the street; (if you try to sit, sit;) - Ill tax your seat; (if you get too cold, cold;) - Ill tax the heat; (if you take a walk, walk;) - I'll tax your feet. Taxman! 'Cause Im the taxman, Yeah, Im the taxman. Don't ask me what I want it for, (ah-ah, mister Wilson) If you don't want to pay some more. (ah-ah, mister heath) 'Cause Im the taxman, Yeah, Im the taxman. Now my advice for those who die, (taxman) Declare the pennies on your eyes. (taxman) 'Cause Im the taxman, Yeah, Im the taxman. And you're working for no one but me. Taxman!

So, which is better, the Battle Hymn of the Republic or Dixies Land? "Take me out to the Ball Game."

CLEAN Fiddleheads!"I've seen roadside stands way up in the northern tip of NH and in Western Maine advertising them. The reason, perhaps is because the paper mills are almost gone and the shoe factories disappeared a long time ago, and the environmental wackos have destroyed the timber and fishing industries and family farms have been decimated by generations of government meddling. So, local residents sell whatever they've got available to the tourists heading in and out of Vacationland, Blueberries, corn, tomatoes, cucumbers and green beans are staples of the roadside, but what the hell: I suppose if people with NY plates are willing to pay $10 /lb. for fresh fiddleheads, why not give 'em what they want?

So. Now I will get back into reading the rest of the replies.
