I have two brothers who I love very much, they’re young and libertarian Ron Paul supporters, sigh. We get along and I’m hoping that one day they’ll come back to conservatism, but they have bought into a theory that I don’t think makes much sense:
Abe Lincoln was a dictator.
There are many websites dedicated to this nonsense you can Google "Abe Lincoln dictator" and get some weird stuff, if you want to check it out.
I need your help in busting this myth are there any books I can read on this subject to dispel this stuff? Do you know any of the arguments to combat this nonsense? Ie. Lincoln did not want to free the slaves.

If I was then I'd just add it to the long list of problems we have. But I'm not calling you anything, that's a Lost Causer tactic. Merely pointing out that this gratitude that you claim the South felt for the service of any blacks that served in confederate ranks manifested itself in some very odd ways. I could not care less what your opinion of anyone is - me, blacks, any group you care to name. I'm not saying you're racist. I'm not saying that you're the poster child for the NAACP. I'm not interested either way. What I am doing is refuting the ridiculous notion that black service was appreciated by their confederate compatriots. Considering how they were treated in the 100 years following the rebellion that much should be self-evident.
I am not in the mood to exchange with a clairvoyant who knows that nobody in the South was grateful for the service of confed. blacks during the War of Northern Aggression. Cleary, my expressing gratititude in no way reflects the feelings of those that lived 140+ yrs ago. I will not claim to know that. All I can do is read letters and look at photos of old men who seem to be decorated at reunions by somebody- who?
Let him stay. He/she/it is a constant reminder, and I do mean constant, of the mindset of the left wing ideological hatemongers. He fits the mold so perfectly that I don't know how he manages to avoid the ban hammer.
Besides that, he/she/it is good for an occasional laugh.

How many times must I tell you, longevity means NOTHING!!! Good trolls have longevity. They get away with things but they are eventually caught. Longevity can be a bad thing. A 10 year old troll may not have been a troll when they joined, or they might have been. A lot can happen in 10 years. Conservatives could have changed and voted for Obongo.
