Dr Ang'awa had worked in Embu, Kiambu, Kilifi, Mombasa, Kakamega and Bungoma and was one of the best known members of the medical profession in the country.
Her father was brutally killed when she was a teenager more than 40 years ago, but Lady Justice Mary Ang'awa has opted to forgive his killer. During her reflection at a recent meeting to plan the 40th anniversary of the death of her father, she had no qualms about offering a pardon. "I have forgiven you," she says is the message she has for the killer of Dr James Ang'awa.
One of the pioneer medical specialists in the country, Dr Ang'awa was hit on the head with a blunt object on Tom Mboya Street by an unknown assailant.
A police inquest cleared a suspect who had been arrested although Justice Ang'awa is not convinced the decision was the right one. "My father died a painful death. Investigations and inquests were concluded. I and my brothers--Antony, Hillary, Charles and William-- have climbed a steep path to success with the guidance of our mother Perez. So the best thing to do is to forgive the killer," she told the Sunday Nation.
At the time of her father's death, Justice Ang'awa was a Form One student at Limuru Girls' high school. Her family enjoyed a comfortable life; her father was establishing a reputation for his research into treatment of tuberculosis.
The family lived in high-class government quarters in Upper Hill. Among their neighbours were Dr Njoroge Mungai, former President Kenyatta's personal physician, President Kibaki, who was then minister for Finance and the late Barack Obama Sr, father of American President Barack Obama.
The family was evicted from the house three months after Dr Ang'awa's death.

BirtherReport has a new article by Lucas Smith (banned FReeper) in which he claims that the Dominican Republic is trying to deport him to Kenya for bribing Kenyan officials. Smith includes a scan of a government document in support of his claimed attempted deportation.
Smith also provides a clean scan of a claimed newly acquired 1963 birth certificate from Coast Province General Hospital (unrelated to Barry) that has the identical format as Barry’s.
Having been zotted back in 2010 for putting up one too many threads about Lucas Smith’s claims I am putting this article here and hoping that I will be spared the zot.
I do not vouch for Smith’s claims in any way, given his criminal record and despicable comments and behavior, yet I believe his claims deserve forensic scrutiny and his claims should be allowed to stand or fall based on what is found to be true about the evidence and not based on Smith’s character.

The 2009 claims of Lucas Smith and going forward are NOT the same as the 2009 Bomford/Lavender BC hoax boasted convincingly, IMO, to have punked eligibility activists by an Obot. Do not conflate Smith’s BC with Bomford or Blaine forgeries, please! And please do not use conflation of proved forgeries with still open BC investigations to dissuade FReepers from participating in further BC investigations. Just because Obots have created many fake BCs to throw us off doesn’t mean Smith’s BC is fake. Smith’s BC must be evaluated on its own forensic characteristics.
IMO as a retired CPA and Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE), the Lucas Smith claims have never been conclusively debunked on any single point, despite whatever shortcomings Smith may have personally.
In Sept. 2009 Lucas Smith showed up in federal court in Orly’s case before Judge Carter with an affidavit swearing on penalty of perjury that his 2009 certified copy of a Kenyan BC for Barry was obtained by him by bribing officials...thereby inviting federal prosecution by Eric Holder...which never happened. I wonder why that is. Could it be that prosecution of Smith would have required DISCOVERY of whether his Coast Province General Hospital BC was genuine?
Smith filed a second affidavit in 2009 in Judge Carter’s court claiming that Orly asked Smith to perjure himself by testifying that he was the one who obtained the Bomford BC from Kenya and gave it to Orly. Judge Carter apparently found Smith’s affidavit to be so persuasive that he admonished Taitz from the bench, to which she loudly objected. Full disclosure: I had given money to Taitz up to this episode and I also found Smith’s affidavit to be persuasive, despite his record as a convicted felon.
In 2013 Smith published a pristine clear scan of the CPGH BC with detail of the baby’s footprint so clear that subpoena of Barry’s foot in a discovery ordered by a federal court could determine whether the BC was genuine.

I invite FReepers to carefully follow Smith’s new claims and to subject them to the highest level of skepticism and scrutiny.
It would help for a Spanish speaking FReeper to help translate the document that Smith claims is some kind of evidence that the Dominican Republic is trying to extradite him. Also, a translation of Dominican Rep. extradition statutes would help, if anyone is interested.

I’ve seen so much crap on Obama you could be right. I keep an open mind to all possibilities with this guy. - or any number of official documents I haven’t mentioned that can be vetted for authentication. And any of the above in combination that happen to get publicly known.

The way to know Lucas Smith is a BS artist is to find his first forays into internet fame ...his ebay auction of his BC. There were a number of inconsistencies in his story ..the story changed and he posted some pictures of Africa that looked an awful lot like the Dominican Republic ...not to mention his past history of petty crimes and his video of the arrival of the BC. (which looked more than fake)
Also he would never come across with simple evidence to prove he actually went to Kenya
In short if it looks like a duck and sounds like a duck...etc etc
As to the Bomford BC I figured out that in all probability it was done by a well known art expert then ZXat the Getty Museum who was named Bomford . He was a good liberal, he had a nephew or two who were techies and I found some communication between them and some other clues on the net.
I sent Mr Bomford an email and heard back from him ...he said it was curious that his family name was involved in the hoax but I strongly suspect him as he was quite knowledgeable about historical forgeries etc in the art world
In hindsight its a waste of time to worry about any of these guys.... You can spend your whole life trying to disprove what someone claims when it is obviously a fraud

IANAL but in IMO, you are wrong about this. Since the case never went to trial, it was never admitted as evidence only submitted with the complaint and as such Smith would not be considered guilty of perjury. In any case, this was a civil case and civil perjury is rarely prosecuted.
Another problem is the fact it was obtained illegally (through bribery) and it’s provence and authenticity are therefore in doubt. It would never be admitted in court.
