In the Nigerian scams, the scam artist (pretending to be somebody you DO know) frantically alerts you (via email) that he’s stuck at the police station in Djibouti because somebody stole his wallet and he couldn’t pay the bus fare for the bus transfer, so the cops were called and didn’t believe him, so they arrested him, and now he’s stuck at the station and they won’t let him go and he finally managed to charm them into letting him go, but they can’t let him go unless he pays the fine since they don’t want to get in trouble for letting him go, so please please wire $400 to the Western Union right across the street here in Djibouti and they will get the $400 and release him and this nightmare will be over! Please, Red Steel, wire me $400! Help me, Obi-Wan, you’re my only hope!
