Get Real! Cut the Third Party Crap: The Two Parties Are Not the Same
Rush ^ | December 1st | rush

Posted on 12/05/2009 3:41:40 PM PST by Halfmanhalfamazing

I'm all for Ralph Nader running again. I'd love for Howard Dean to get fed up or some other Democrat to get fed up with Obama and I'd love for a third party of Democrats and liberals to establish itself. I want all kinds of liberals to line and up run in third parties. That's how we weaken their side. As for our side, the focus must be to take back the Republican Party. That's the way you win. You can draw attention to yourself by denouncing both parties at the same time, and you can think that you're relating to a whole lot of people or being disabused and forgotten about, but you do a grave disservice in doing so because you're never going to win anything. You're going to guarantee Democrat victory in perpetuity. We need a strong conservative movement that takes back the Republican Party and then we have a strong Republican Party. It's hard work but it is happening.

**I won’t support any more leftists.**

Leftists unfortunately carry (R) as well as (D).. and both are as Dangerous...

Thus my recurring NIGHTMARE of GOP nominating Olympia Snowe!!

Context is everything

RUSH: While I have your attention: third party. This third-party stuff has got to stop, folks, unless you are for a third party for the Democrats.

“...the loonie left is split between three other parties, allowing the grownups to win with just 38% of the vote.”

And that’s what Rush is encouraging, a third party on the LEFT. I think the headline of this post is misleading.

It is also different in our system, whereas Canada has a parlimentary system that gives power to parties as parties. In our system most third parties will at best win a race here or there, I suppose even the presidency under the right conditions, but they will not gain enough seats at a national level to have real power in congress.

I'm registered as an independent. I'd be more than happy to vote for a republican if they run a viable candidate. If they run another McCain type RINO then I have no choice but to accept that the republican party isn't interested in earning my vote. No more voting for the lesser of two evils...I say no evil candidates.

A third party within the republican party, yes.

A third party outside of the republican party...no.

Conservative or right-leaning "third parties" are an excellent way to guarantee RATS have permanent control.

If you use your group as a way to select certain Republican candidates and support them rather than running your own candidates, fine and dandy but if you think it's smart to run anyone as a "third party" then you don't give a darn about your country. You're only trying to milk your "third party" for all you can get.

This harebrained idea of running a "third party" candidate in a House distrcit in idea is well....harebrained and I hope he loses. The consequences are too great but maybe you don't care if the unions gain more control here in Iowa because that is what is at stake.

I hope the posters here on FR realize that you do not care one twit about your country. You only care about your own hide with your fake, phony “third party”.

I’m for conservatives taking back the GOP. I would hate to give up the Party of Lincoln and Reagan.

Nominate and support conservatives in the GOP primaries, and work to get them elected in the general elections, for starters.

You have just laid out the road map to changing the Republican party. It MUST be done from the bottom up--just the way you describe. If we run willy nilly all over the place we will be fractured and allow RATS to remain in control.

Sorry, Rush, but I don't know how else we can get the message across to Republicans that we're series about not putting up with their crap any more.

And don't tell me to go through the primary process. Thanks to McCain-Feingold, the primaries are nothing more than incumbent conveyor belts.

The time to at least threaten The Republican Party with a third party challenge is now, not during the election season.

Besides, it's not my job to fall in line with The Republican Party.

It's The Republican Party's job to find candidates I would vote for.

Tom, you need to get a life. The scenario you describe has probably happened and it's likely to happen again. Sometimes decisions have to be made where to made solid investments. A party apparatus exists to promote the party and they're going to put their limited resources behind the candidates that are most likely to give them a return on their money.

This is not ideal--but it is realistic.

Are mistakes made? Probably because we're all human but to claim there is no difference between Republicans and Democrats and to insinuate that the Republican party apparatus will always back a RINO over a conservative is just plain lying.

You need to go get a life. What you're doing now is destructive to both you and your country.

The opportunity to split the Dems is there like never before. The far left is beyond pissed at 0 over A’stan, Gotmo and a bunch of other things. The middle is less and less for 0. Ripe for the picking by say Nader or a far lefty.

All quote from Rush at the link and from this thread excerpt:
As for our side, the focus must be to take back the Republican Party. That's the way you win....We need a strong conservative movement that takes back the Republican Party and then we have a strong Republican Party. It's hard work but it is happening.
More from the link!
And I know the Republican Party has let a lot of people down by not advocating conservatism or implementing it as they campaigned on.

...there are clear differences between liberals and even moderates Republicans. RINO Republicans are a different thing altogether. The problem politically here is the war within the Republican Party over who is going to dominate it and lead it.

There is a conservative ascendancy here. Why in the world waste what is happening here with this new conservative ascendance and weaken it and split it up by forming a third party? So far, not a single Republican is going to vote for government-run health care.

Now, I'm the first to tell you, and I'm the first to agree that the Republican Party has screwed up and it needs to continue to find its legs, and with our help, it will have no choice but to become a traditional conservative party.

The Republican Party right now has lost its way. This conservative ascendancy can help it find its way.

...we are not populists, we're constitutionalists, we are conservatives. And when a majority of us are in control of the Republican Party, the Republican Party wins.

I grabbed some names from This Thread, I think it will be of interest to those of you that I added in the "to" box.

How do you intend to “take back” the Republican Party? Specifics please.

You say you're a Reagan conservative, EV. So study up.

Hoefling has to speak maliciously of the GOP, hoping it will convince the gullible and naïve to donate to the AIP. As ‘chairman’ wee Hoefling has a lot to say about how the money is spent and there have been members here at FR who have alleged that eternal vigilance/Tom Hoefling is using part of the money donated for his own personal gain.

We must reform the GOP and purge the RINOs and other enemies of the people.

Why didn't you do that years ago when there were far fewer socialists in the OP(formerly the GOP)?

The likes of McCain, Graham gave up on Lincoln and Reagan years ago and have no intention of changing. Conservatives will be far better off uniting in a second party with strong Conservative principles.

Wow, hadn't realized that he got less than a third of the vote McKinney got.

By Grabthar's hammer, what a spanking.
