Rudy Giuliani Throws Hat Into 2008 Presidential Ring
Post Chronicle ^ | 2/1/07

Posted on 02/01/2007 5:41:39 AM PST by areafiftyone

According to a source close to The Giuliani campaign, Rudy Giuliani is throwing his hat into the ring.  The Hinzsight Report confirms, through a source close to the Giuliani campaign, that he is presently sending people out into all 50 states to secure his name on the primary ballots.

"Despite Mayor Giuliani's public cautiousness, this is evidence that he is seriously pursuing the Presidency in 2008, and he should be taken very seriously.

Critical state polls have shown Mayor Giuliani leading the pack, and it's about time that he start being considered what he is--the front-runner" a source tells The Hinzsight Report.

Giuliani has lined up nearly 300 key Republican supporters in New Jersey for his bid for the 2008 presidential nomination, his campaign announced this week.

In a recent Quinnipiac University poll of New Jersey voters, it showed Giuliani leading all Republican presidential candidates and ahead of Sen. Hillary Clinton, the leading Democratic contender, in a head-to-head matchup.

The New Jersey primary, which is currently set for Feb. 26, is likely to move up to Feb. 5, placing it early in the campaign season and increasing its significance.  As many as 15 states could hold their Republican presidential primaries Feb. 5, reports Gannett.

Your post style and methods are very Sunsong-like.

I asked the question of you, in case you don't recall. You are the one employing stall and diversionary tacts.

"If you don't like Rudy, don't vote for him."

I won't. He's more liberal than some of the Democrats.

Can you provide a link - otherwise I'm going to regard this as merely biased anti-Rudy information. It is interesting however, that the people at StopRudy.com have actually decided to support him. Maybe they know something you refuse to know.

By the way, the Lewinsky scandal hit in 1998 - in 1996, Clinton was not our cup of tea, but not yet well known as a criminal.

I have no intentions of throwing away my conservative principles and personal integrity to join you in electing a liberal to the White House. That serves no good purpose whatsoever. It undermines everything I've stood for over the last three decades. I'm no sell out. Sorry.

You better change parties cause you are voting hillary in.

Your contention that a vote for any conservative candidate in the Republican Primary is a vote for Hillary is offensive and false.

By the way, while you're at it, provide a specific quote that Giuliani supported Ginsburg's appointment to the Supreme Court.

In contrast, Giuliani on Alito and Roberts:

“Republicans are united by our belief in going on offense to win the war on terror,” he wrote in a November 5 Real Clear Politics column. “Republicans stand for lower taxes; Democrats stand for higher taxes — it’s as simple as that,” he added. “The successful appointments of Justices Roberts and Alito are signs of promises kept,” Giuliani observed. “They are principled individuals who can be trusted to defend the original intent of the Constitution rather than trying to legislate their own political beliefs from the bench.” And, as Giuliani concluded, “the issues that unite us as Republicans are the same issues that unite the vast majority of Americans: a commitment to winning the war on terror; a core belief in fiscal conservatism; and a faith in individual freedom. Advancing these principles, while staying on offense, can help keep the GOP a strong majority party.”

See: Alan Keyes.

Alan Keyes is not running in this Primary. Some good conservative and semi-conservative Republican candidates are. (Not saying that Keyes isn't a good conservative, but that he's not running.)

"Then please explain how Reagan won Massachusetts in 1984."

Perhaps the political topics of the day favored Reagan more?

You said that the 'rat base votes "D" regardless, and they clearly didn't in 1984. Nobody can credibly claim that Massachusetts voters decided in 1984 that they were supporters of conservatism.

Reagan won a landslide in 1984 because he was very popular all over the country -- even in the bluest of blue states.

The VAST majority of swing voters -- the 20% difference between Johnson 1964 and Reagan 1984 -- are NOT motivated by ideology. There are lots of voters motivated by what they read or see in People Magazine or on Oprah.

Rudy is popular and that counts for a lot in politics. It's what Bubba lived by -- certainly he didn't govern as a far-left liberal (except in his SCOTUS appointments).

I wasn't posting that to you.

The chart: "Fake but accurate".

You keep saying that. Repeatedly. Yet you've failed to demonstrate even one aspect of the chart is "fake". And while one or two of the items on the chart could be arguable, and your interpretation of Rudy's statements and policies as mayor may be different, the rest of the chart would still be there demonstrating that Giuliani's positions are more in line with Hillary's and the Democratic Party's.

Hunter's biggest ptoblem right now is name recognition, and if people know of him they don't know where he stands on the issues, especially the WOT, which is an improtant issue in this area.

I'm supporting Rudy, but what do you think of Hunter as a VP candidate to Rudy or whoever receives the nomination?

That wasn't my point. You made the point that no one in their right mind would have said Clinton was better for the nation in 1992 just because Bush has appointed Souder. I countered that Giuliani had considered endorsing Clinton and had even said that Giuliani and Clinton would both be good for the nation even after 4 years of Clinton and after Clinton had appointed Ginsburg. Your deflecting the argument because you know you lost on that point.
