The Candidate (Rudy Giuliani in NH)
The American Spectator ^ | 1/29/2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 01/29/2007 1:36:27 PM PST by Dark Skies

Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.

Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.

"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

Well, I don't think you will succeed at controlling the conversation :-)

You do know that Rudy has gay friends? And you do know that he has said he does not favor gay marriage. He favors civil unions.

Do you think that a politician *ought* to agree with you?

I can't believe I actually found your question. Thx jla. I found it and I will respond.

First, Rudy understands this war. He kicked Arafat out of Lincoln Center and said "no terrorist has a right to be here"...and after 9/11 when Saudi Prince Alwaleed Bin Talal offered NYC $10 million but said that the U.S. caused 9/11, Rudy threw the check in his face.

When our President announced the Surge...Rudy immediately announced his support.

Rudy was downtown when the towers came down...he knows and believes.

He took on the 5 families (the mob) when he was a district attorney in a RICO suit.

Study it (I have followed Rudy for years)...See what you think.

He may be an SOB...but he is our SOB.

Hey Spiff, how do you feel you are doing so far in preventing abortion nation-wide and cracking down on those evil homosexuals.

What did Ronald Reagan ever do to prove he could handle the Cold War? What did Harry Truman, a man who never went to college, do to prove he could be President in WWII?

Ronald Reagan and Harry Truman are not running for President right now, so I can't vote for them. Why don't you answer jla's question since you keep saying that Rudy is 'THE Man' to fight terrorism. You could at least address specifically why you believe that.

Just admit that you can't give any good reason(s) as to why Giuliani should be POTUS. How pathetic the G.O.P. has become.

Who are you supporting and why are they qualified to be president or what do you consider to be the most important qualifications of a presidential candidate and why?

The essence of all humor is it's hyperbolic truth. Truth with a goiter. You laughed because you can see the image in your mind's eye and it rings true in some way. If it didn't ring true then you would go " What in the hell does THAT Mean?"

Re: Van..VW? No...Too Euro......No...I'm thinking one of those Chevy Vans that were all the rage back about 1978 or so... Two Captain's Chairs. Something weird emblazoned on the side...Known around the nation as " Them Fetus Fellas in that old van"...

Since Friday we probably turned 50 freepers to look at Rudy without doing much except let each visitor watch the Rudy bashers in action, easy work, I sip wine, make a few replies gain new converts.

LOL - that is so good!

We are social conservatives who are opposed to abortion, partial birth abortion, stem cell research, amnesty to illegal border invaders, the homosexual agenda, and gun control.

I respect your positions, and I agree with them in theory. But will you concede that without a win in the War on Terror, we may someday be ruled under Shia law, and for almost every position you list, you would be praising allah, instead of Thanking God?

This may seem like an overreaction, and I generally stay away from that, but I fear a USA under Hillary Clinton. I think Rudy would be the best man to lead us in that fight. I would like to remind you of the problems in Europe right now due to Islamic Fascists. Europeans tried for years to live and let live, yet now they are seeing that appeasing the radicals is not the answer.

After reading many of the other "Anti - Rudy" posts on this and other threads, I am truly trying to talk to a few posters one on one. I am not saying that this time next year I will not be in someones else's corner when it comes to the nominees, I just want everyone to see the big picture. As I see the "big picture", we will not win the WOT with the Democrats in charge. With Rudy we might.

Rudy was downtown when the towers came down...he knows and believes.

Chelsea Clinton was downtown when the towers came down. There were a significant number of Democrat-registered New Yorkers downtown when the towers came down. I guess any of them would qualify for President using your logic.
