The Candidate (Rudy Giuliani in NH)
The American Spectator ^ | 1/29/2007 | Philip Klein

Posted on 01/29/2007 1:36:27 PM PST by Dark Skies

Many skeptics continue to question whether Rudy Giuliani is serious about making a run for the White House, but it was abundantly clear on Saturday that he had come to Manchester for more than the sub-freezing temperatures.

Addressing over 500 activists at the New Hampshire Republican Party's annual meeting as part of a two-day swing through the state, Giuliani sketched the broad outlines of what looks like a presidential run. Sounding at times like a motivational speaker, Giuliani cautioned against cynicism and pessimism in the wake of November's election results and challenges in the ongoing War on Terror. The message especially resonated with the audience in this critical primary state, where the Republican Party just lost control of both chambers of the legislature for the first time since the 1870s.

"The best way we remain safe and we retain our freedom...is remaining on offense, remaining strong and not becoming weak in a time of pressure," Giuliani said in a line that drew the biggest applause from the crowd at the Palace Theater.

Look, I simply asked for specific reasons as to why Giuliani is qualified to be POTUS. If you can't list any then at least be honest and say so.

"He's Italian like me (if you don't think THATS important well it will help him carry NJ!"

I KNOW it's important. I know several socially conservative Americans of Italian descent who support Rudy mainly because he is Italian, and yet have complained when they believe African Americans do likewise. Sorry, that's not a good enough reason. Shame on all of you.

OK...then who do you recommend to fight the war with islamofascism?

Name ONE time Giuliani has foiled a terrorist plot or prevented any act of terrorism.
My query to you - What has Giuliani EVER done to prove he is capable to lead the war on terrorism?

Normally naming calling is an act of desperation, which you Rudy bashers are.

Does it seem like you have to repeat yourself 100 times? Have there been any new questions? Any new ideas? Any new information?

I think I get it - they don't like Rudy. LOL

But what *do* they like? Alan - the street preacher - Keyes? I wonder if they *get* how we feel about him?

Ever think there is absolutely no communication going on? LOL

You've had your question answered. Who are you supporting and why are they qualified to be president or what do you consider to be the most important qualifications of a presidential candidate and why?

I have a nice glass of Cabernet here, it always attracts gnats, I gave up long ago trying to pick them out. The wine is sweet and so attracts them into their death spiral. A little protein never hurt.

I don't agree with Rudy 100% of the time but I think he represents the best we can get in 2008 and would be a great CiC.

As of today, I agree with you, the only person I can see myself "jumping off the Rudy ship" for right now is Condi. Heck, I would probably even start the ping list for her. But my maybe Guilliani/Rice ticket would fit the bill.

I am still looking at each and every candidate that announces (except Ron Paul), but I have yet to find one that fits my philosophy, yet could still beat Hillary. I think that in 2008 we need strength, and Gulliani seems the best so far.

He said Ginsberg was intelligent and a good laywer. He wasn't praising her political ideology. Heck, I'll even admit Bill Clinton is intelligent, he was a Rhodes Scholar after all, but that doesn't mean I like his ideology.

Really. If you say so. Now, show me where Giuliani was praising Scalia's "political ideology". I'll wait.

Your recollection is better than mine. I never paid them much attention, but I do remember some kids thought it was cool to say they were Birchers. Ditto for saying they were agnostic.

Rudy has said he supports strict constructionist...

No, he hasn't.

Spammy, yes he has. I know you are an anti-abortion fanatic. That's OK by me.

But Rudy has said for years that he is a strict constructionist.

I know you don't like abortions and neither do I...but I don't like back alley abortions either.

Be honest with us. At least tell us the single reason you are in this fight.

The pro-Rudy folks aren't so different than you.

I don't agree with Guiliani's position on gay marriage, and would prefer to keep the conversation focused upon that.

No, my Q has not been answered. Why? Because you people are unable to offer up any concrete, specific reasons as to why Giuliani should be POTUS.
