I am a Christian conservative or social conservative. I am Pro-Life. I vote.
Rudy Giuliani is pro-gay, pro-gun control, and pro-abortion.
For these reasons and others, I state very firmly that I will not vote for Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States under any circumstances.
Senator John McCain has waffled on human cloning, has supported experimentation on human embryos, and has attacked prominent Christian clergy because of the, "evil influence that they exercise." John McCain has said of Pro-Life voters, on a public broadcast radio show, that they are, "otherwise intelligent people who say that that's the only issue that will determine their vote." McCain told the San Francisco Chronicle, "I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade."
For these reasons and others, I state very firmly that I will not vote for John McCain for President of the United States under any circumstances.

Rudy Giuliani was my support right now. Think he represents the Republicans best chance to retain the White House in '08. Not perfect, but he stands heads and shoulders above any of the Democrats. Question is: Do you want to win, or stand on principles and have a repeat of 1964? Might feel go, but Hillary as President. Time to be pragmatic, folks. 20-33-47 Remember those numbers. 20% of the voters are true-blue liberals, 33% are die-hard conservatives, and 47% are middle of the road moderates. That 47% decides the elections. They like Rudy. I want to win. Do you?
I just hope its not Guiliani or McCain that make it through the primary.

[I do not understand why anyone would care about religion in a political campaign, I thought we got past that hurdle with John Kennedy, and later with Nixon and his Quaker beliefs.]
It was made an issue again by the MSM when they painted W. Bush as a Bible thumping, googly-eyed zealot. I'm NOT saying we should be afraid of this treatment, because they're going to paint any conservative this way, but it needs to be taken into account.

I'll take this one.. I am fine with people believing these because as a practice, they don't strap bombs to their kids and send them into bus stations! Sure, they may be theologically F***ed, but they are currently not killing hundreds of thousands of Christians and Jews in the name of their religion..
A Giuliani or McCain nomination will split the republican party big time, especially if someone like Jim Gilchrist is the constitution party nominee. It's best for the republicans to stop Giuliani and McCain in their tracks in the primary, as long as there aren't too many cross-over democrats voting for Giuliani.
I saw it in TX. Had Mormon neighbors who were wonderful and EVERYONE on the street was suspicious of them BECAUSE they were Mormons. They were "shunned".
Condi has said she is not interested in running and I believe her.

They all want their votes, but deliver zero on their issues (issues I happen to agree with).
And the war... the war is not going to be won in a court room by a division of lawyers, so all this "tough on terror" talk is patent B.S. Rotting the country from the inside out ain't helping...

Good post. I've never gotten the connection so many people have between the President and Aabortion. We had 8 years of Reagan and * years of Bush and we still have legal abortion. Reagan gave us O'Connor and Kennedy. The President has very little power over abortion.
Same with guns. Bill Clinton was President for 8 years. I don't know anyone who lost their guns or had them cofiscated and I know plenty of people with guns. In any event, the gun control issue is largely finished at the moment. When the dems run and support guys like Webb, Ford, Casey, tester and others who support gun rights, it's evident. Kerry didn't talk about guns at all. Guns won't even be an issue in 2008.
Also, it's not even 2007. Who knows what will happen in the next 2 years? What issues will arise? What new situations? The best thing to do is to sit tight, let the candidates decalre and run, follow the campaigns and early debates and start really paying attention around labor day. Until then, this is all just a bucnh of speculation. Whcih of course, is what FR is good for, but still.
