Many people in the South ignorantly loathe Mormons, deriding them as "cultists". This from a group of people who still think Bear Bryant is alive and well.

Sounds like you're the one with issues, bud. I've never experienced anywhere in the south this "Mormon-loathing" thing you're so sure of. By the way, take the time to look up the definition of "cult" sometime, too.

I saw it in TX. Had Mormon neighbors who were wonderful and EVERYONE on the street was suspicious of them BECAUSE they were Mormons. They were "shunned".

Consider this though: Recently--i.e.: within the past decade or so--the Southern Baptists had their National Convention in Salt Lake City, and they did this for one reason and one reason only: to thumb their nose at the Mormons.
