To: The Republican Party
I am a Christian conservative or social conservative. I am Pro-Life. I vote.
Rudy Giuliani is pro-gay, pro-gun control, and pro-abortion.
For these reasons and others, I state very firmly that I will not vote for Rudy Giuliani for President of the United States under any circumstances.
Senator John McCain has waffled on human cloning, has supported experimentation on human embryos, and has attacked prominent Christian clergy because of the, "evil influence that they exercise." John McCain has said of Pro-Life voters, on a public broadcast radio show, that they are, "otherwise intelligent people who say that that's the only issue that will determine their vote." McCain told the San Francisco Chronicle, "I would not support repeal of Roe v. Wade."
For these reasons and others, I state very firmly that I will not vote for John McCain for President of the United States under any circumstances.
Sincerely,
Bump that and raise you one.
I can understand some people holding these beliefs. I cannot understand why they would proudly parade those beliefs in front of the whole world: "Look, everyone! I'm a stupid bigot!"
Petitions are ineffective if you don't sign them.
Why not sign it instead of sophistry?
Condi?
Name 1 accomplishment.
She's held offices. What are the great achievements of her time in office? Zippo.
She's a pro-abort as well.
Rudy is stronger on gun control than Hilruh.
Lesbians still believe in using guns to fend off men once in a while.
Also, Reagan and W are 2 different circumstances
Reagan was a popular actor, well known and generally well liked by the public, 2 term Governor of the largest state in the Union and automatic possessor of 55+ EV. He also had the luck to run against the worst President of the past 50 years who happened to be going through a hostage crisis and stagflation that ruined his chances. Carter would have lost to anyone that year.
Bush was running against a VP of a 2 term dem incumbent who was impeached and was highly polarizing. He too was a 2 term governor of the 2nd largest state in the Union and automatic possesor of 35+ EV. He had name recognition. He also ran as a "compassionate" conservative who was a uniter and bipartiand and would clean up the morals after Slick. He also ran against a guy with the personality of 2X4 and a Jew as his VP. Even with all of that, Bush LOST the popular vote and won the Electoral vote by the narrowest of margins and truth be told, I don't think anyone will ever really know who "won" Florida.
In any event, their situations are totally different to '08 when the country will have just had 8 years of a GOP President whose approval ratings figure to stay in the mid 30s and who is bitterly despised by the left and large segments of the media and the pundits.
Tom Tancredo, the poster's candidate has as much chance of winning as Dennis Kucinich does on the dem side, which is to say none at all.
I'm all for a more conservative candidate than Rudy por McCain but that guy doesn't appear to be revealing himself just yet. There's still time though. Is Romeny the guy? Who knows? The mormon thing will hurt him
No you "mis-understood" what I said: OR I said it wrong: Ronald Reagan was both a Smaller-Gov conservative (what I call libertarian leaning): fiscal restraint/ect. I didn't mean to insinuate that Reagan was a part of th libertarian" party.
"We don't bash religions here, save for Islam."
Yup, you are fine with a wiccan, santerian, a satanist, an atheist, an animist, or someone who believes in magic underwear BECAUSE IT IS INTOLERANT TO BE INTOLERANT
Rice is not running so there is no worry about her being president.
Rice was never seriously mentioned as a presidential candidate until the Dick Morris book. Does he have that much clout?
Go Samm!
"Many people in the South ignorantly loathe Mormons, deriding them as "cultists"."
Why would I be ignorant to oppose the presidency of someone who believes they will become God of their own planet? Seems like a pretty real problem to me.
i have not been able to understand the dislike of mccain among some freepers. no hes not a christian conservative but he is a consistent conservative.
No one has given me a good reason to dislike him. All i hear are innuendo and made up stuff like the poster i replied to.
Any takers. I already mentioned that he breaks with us on global warming and amnesty for illegals. Is there anything else?
Shove it. A Mormon is running for the nomination, not a wiccan, athiest or a satanist.
Grow up.
Campaign Finance Reform with Feingold.
I will be happy to vote for McCain if he's our nominee.
It's not just YOUR party. It's ours, too.
I didn't say petitions were ineffective, I said ON LINE petitions are ineffective.. trust me, I've worked in enough campaign offices to know what is laughed at and tossed in the trash..
So let's say a Thatcheresque Republican one day finds herself up against a Kerryesque 'Rat in the general election, and there were no attractive third party candidates. Would you sit that one out?
