The "new tone" is an abysmal failure. Bush took the fight to Iraq, but it's ironic that his lack of taking the fight to the 'Rats, the MSM, and John McTraitor domestically has neutered all his power. The best defense is a good offense.

I thought Bolton was doing a fine job; which of course spelled death for him in our new SanFran Nancy Pelosi guard.

The defense secretary had made his share of mistakes - notably, his failure to crush looting immediately after the fall of Baghdad - but he had followed the president's policy faithfully.

This statement shows O'Sullivan to be uninformed about both major combat operations and the looting. Had he read the LTC Bogdanos book he would know that few valuable pieces were looted from the Baghdad Museum, and what was taken was mainly by insiders. Matthew Bogdanos is an expert in classical studies, a New York prosecutor, and the U.S. Marine officer who has been assigned by Gen. Tommy Franks to track down the stolen treasures of Iraq's cultural heritage.

Second, the priority of commanders mopping up at the end of active hostilities is to consolidate their positions and defeat pockets of resistance, not to divert resources to save inanimate objects no matter how old or how precious to the art world in New York .... or at the New York Times--which incidentally (but consistently) got the story wrong by several orders of magnitude when they reported 170,000 items were missing.

O'Sullivan is an embarrassment to the Hudson Institute and the New York Post fact checkers.

I was watching the White House being decorated for Christmas on HGTV, and reading posts during commercials, and was reminded to be thankful that Republican President George Bush has kept the war on terror in Iraq so America could continue to be prosperous and free. President Bush has two more years to govern and he will continue to go about his business as always. On the plus side, he has fewer disloyal self serving Republicans in the congress working hand in glove with the RATS. He can do little about the RAT third party MSM but even they cannot stop him from doing his job of serving the people who elected him, and even those who did not. If I could speak to the President I would say, "carry on Mr. President, I know that you are stronger in spirit and resolve than your opponents and I have faith that your loyalty is to this Republic that you serve. Thank you".

GOD BLESS PRESIDENT BUSH and OUR TROOPS!

We may never see a man of his stature, character or leadership in the White House again, and millions of us know it.

May the Almighty and Sovereign God who placed him in authority over us continue to guide him and protect him against all enemies foreign and domestic. Amen!

Lessee, Rummy and Bolton out, Gates-the-asskisser in - no need for a UN rep now. Baker and Hamilton talking blah-blah-blah. Rice talking blah-blah. Everybody just talking now. Making plans to talk, with Iran, maybe. Planing to talk with someone building an A-Bomb, maybe.

USA sending Reserve Engineering Battalions to Iraq. Four U.S. Battle Groups in the Arabian Sea. Troop movements out of Al Anbar towards Baghdad.

"...Bolton's departure: Either the White House wasn't prepared to fight for him, or he was no longer prepared to lend his voice to the diplomatic charade over Iran and North Korea..."

"...Rumsfeld's abrupt firing was an act of flagrant disloyalty to a loyal subordinate..."

Stranger things have probably happenned in my life, but I was drinking then, and I don't remember...................FRegards

Ya know, it just doesn't have to be this way. This man could still do so much. I know he has a good heart, but he just isn't seeing the world for the way it really is. He could still do so much. President Bush is such a good man. As much as I hate some of his positions on things like the border, it really breaks my heart how he has been so attacked. The Dems are wuss's (wussis? wusses?).
They have had everything given to them. They have not had to really fight for what they have won. They, in some ways, are winning the same way the terrorists are. They have faced opponents that have laid down and rolled over, that have not fought the good fight. Have not been unified. The Bush family are really good people, though I don't agree with them in a lot of ways. They are not conservatives. But President Bush could still have a productive two years. Everything depends on attitude. So, we just keep "prayin!"

"All of this feeds an exaggerated defeatism in the United States over Iraq"

As if their rank speculation and daily droning of how bad it's going in Iraq didn't have it's part in feeding defeatism. The arrogance of these people is unbelievable.

We don't know for certain the reasons for Bolton's departure: Either the White House wasn't prepared to fight for him, or he was no longer prepared to lend his voice to the diplomatic charade over Iran and North Korea.

Fight for him? What is the President supposed to do -- have the 82nd Airborne take over the Senate Chamber and gun down all Senators who are blocking the vote on his confirmation?

Bolton is leaving because a minority of the Senate refuses to allow a vote and the majority won't force the issue. Those like this columnist who blame that on the President are either monumentally ignorant of Senate realities or else are being blatantly unfair. Either way, I continue to be proud of the President for nominating this fine man and contemptuous of the Senate, the Media and those posters here who are so blinded by irrational hatred that they cannot be either rational or fair.

Absolutely, I couldn't agree more. The recent democratic victory at the polls will be the undoing of the war in Iraq as I feared. With the imvolvement of people like Baker, not only will we fail to achieve victory in a war in which we can be utterly victorious, we will be doomed to failure.

Lately (just today in fact), I am hearing average people say this war is unwinable just like Viet Nam. The Democrats, once again, have created a self-fulfilling prophecy. Few senario's are more maddening.

I've lost count how many times they've pronounced him dead or something to that effect. If it weren't so gratuiotus and dangerous, it would be quite comical.

It used to be that Freeper discussions about W where a lot like a praise service. Now the Freepers break out into a brawl. Well, the Freepers haven't changed and no there aren't a lot of new trolls loitering around here. Lets face it, our administration has HUGH problems and they have painted themselves into a corner.
