Somehow I can't imagine anyone in the sex business taking drinks from those men they perform for. I mean at this point in time with all the information about the date rape drugs. It's got to be standard to bring your own water and keep it with you.

Anybody see anything New here?

What do the reporters do these days, hang out and wait for someone to spoon feed them?

The alleged victim's job here is just to come up with the accusations. It's Nancy Grace's job to justify them.

This from the second dancer who has already changed her story?

It's possible that she slipped the other dancer a drug in order to roll her for her half of the money.

Let's get back to the DNA. When are the second set of results going to be made public?

some DNA evidence had been found under the accuser's fingernails

Given the close contact common in some "exotic dancing" situations, such as lap dancing, this evidence doesn't prove anything.

DNA would have to be found in much more personal places to be evidence of rape.

"Changed her mind"

IMO, she's looking to cash in ... and so is her attorney.

Court records obtained by AP and by NEWSWEEK show that Kim Roberts was on probation from a 2001 conviction for embezzling $25,000 from a photofinishing company where she worked, helping to keep payroll records. On March 22, eight days after the alleged rape, Kim spent two hours in jail for breaking the terms of her probation (she had left the state, her attorney says, to visit her sick father). She posted $25,000 bond and on March 30 found a lawyer, Mark Simeon.

Simeon is not a big-time lawyer. He handles mostly traffic violations and routine criminal matters in the Durham courts. But he is politically active—in 2002 he ran for district attorney and lost. He sees Roberts's case as an opportunity for him, too. "I will be there for her if and when she decides to pursue legal remedies on her own behalf," he says. And he wants to put together a team to represent the alleged rape victim in another civil suit, in order to, he says, "help make her whole." He has asked an associate to contact Willie E. Gary, a well-known Florida lawyer. Simeon told NEWSWEEK, "[My mother's] proud of seeing me on TV but she'd like to see that translated into something tangible. It's not so I can dress like a powerful lawyer. I've struggled since that last election."

Simeon has a relationship with prosecutor Nifong that may shed light on the D.A.'s handling of the case. Nifong was the protégé of Simeon's rival in the 2002 race for D.A. Simeon and Nifong did not get along, according to Simeon. But last year, Nifong's boss, Jim Hardin, was appointed to a judgeship, and Nifong was appointed to fill his place. Nifong's term is almost up, and in Durham, district attorney is an elected post. The voters go to the polls in one week, on May 2. One of Nifong's opponents is a lawyer named Freda Black, who was passed over for the D.A. job. Black is—or was, until the Duke case—better known around town than Nifong, largely because she won a conviction in a celebrated murder case. Nifong's other opponent is a lawyer with no prosecutorial experience named Keith Bishop. Nifong and Black are white; Bishop is African-American. Durham voters are about 40 percent black, so Nifong almost surely needs to win black votes to keep his job.

Shortly after Nifong decided to run, he began reaching out to Simeon. He went to an NAACP banquet and crossed the room to extend his hand in peace to Simeon. On March 28—the day after Nifong first spoke out in the Duke case, publicly chastising the players for not coming forward to volunteer information about the alleged rape—Simeon told Nifong he would support him. He invited Nifong to speak at his church, Ebenezer Missionary Baptist, and introduced him to the African-American congregation as a man who had always been a "good prosecutor," but who, Simeon said he had recently learned, was also a "good man."

That was on April 9. A week later Simeon asked Nifong to go to court to relieve Kim of the obligation of paying the bail-bond fees, arguing that she was no longer a "flight risk." Nifong agreed, as did the judge. Simeon told NEWSWEEK he went before the Durham Committee on the Affairs of Black People, a very influential group, and urged them to vote for Nifong. Simeon says he has also been giving Nifong fashion advice, telling him to lose the plaid shirts and to start wearing black suits, light shirts and power ties. Women like power, Simeon says he told Nifong.

Most of this stuff is fairly hypnotic. Presumably you could convince someone under the influence of just about anything.

I suppose some people think it's quite entertaining to drug others.

good points in posts 27 and 28 on this thread regarding date rape drug

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-chat/1620100/posts

Basically, if the victim was drugged, how does one account for her excellent memory of the attackers (100%) and her violent struggles to fight them off.

Assuming there is positive proof of this, the accuser was in a state of intoxication when she arrived. It could have been self-administered, or it could have been given to her at one of her previous engagements (known by police). It could also have been taken during her 27 minute lock-in in the bathroom with Kim, who could have also slipped it to her. There is a long list of potential drug adminstrators.

Oh, is this "Kim" who now says she witnessed nothing but is sure the guys are guilty?

Funny there's nothing from the doctors.

Date rape drug....NOT....now the drink could have been a mickey...that'll knock you on your butt fast...and so drunk along with going mentality blank...

The stripper could have also taken drugs then drinking on top of that would have caused exactly what happened to her. This crapola this second stripper said is so much speculation, I can't believe it's even news.

Both rohyphnol and GHB cause amnesia and muscle relaxation.
GHB is flushed from the system quickly- rohypnol can be detected by a urine test done within 72 hrs, preferably 48 hrs.

I doubt that any testing was done for the presence of these drugs specifically because the AV was able to give details of her alleged attack.
Had she arrived unconscious, disheveled, clothes torn off and with no memory of the attack, that would have been a red flag to test.
Alcohol potentiates the drug, so the AV would have been unconscious for a long time afterwards , plus she would have serious medical side effects- low blood pressure, respiratory distress, etc.
Which would have alerted the SANE nurse to the possibilty of a date rape drug.
The AV had a death grip on the stick shift in Kim's car-both drugs cause muscle relaxation.

I doubt Nifong has a positive test for date rape drugs, because he would have shouted that from the tops of every satellite truck surrounding his office.
A date rape drug scenario would make Nifong's job harder- his victim would have little or no recall of the events and without DNA and eyewitnesses , her 100% identification of the attackers and detailed accounting of the attack would be quickly shot down by the defense.
Nifong can't have it both ways.

The date rape drug is something that obliterates consciousness and memory.

Perhaps the stripper would have us believe it works differently on exotic dancers?

I wouldn't be surprised that a date rape drug might have been tried based on the information that has come out however, if it was done, it leads to more questions:

1) As was mentioned, why would somebody in the sex trade not be wise to this and refuse food and beverages that are offered? And is there any evidence that she drank anything at the party?

2) The reason you'd drug somebody is to make them compliant so why was it necessary to beat her and strangle her? A drugged victim wouldn't be putting up much of a struggle, you would think.

3) If there was intent to drug and rape the dancer, why just one dancer? Wouldn't they have offered Kim the same stuff?

4) Does it fit the timeline mentioned in other parts of the scenario. IOW, was there enough time for a drug to be administered and to take effect between the time she re-entered the house and the time needed for three men to rape her?

I suppose it is all possible but it needs to piece together correctly.

The prosecution can claim anything, but they have to prove there was a date rape drug in her system that someone in that party gave her.

IMO they also will then have to release a report on ALL the various other chemicals in this lap dancer's body as well.

We know she never called into 9-11 until she herself was taken into custody by some night guard in some retail center where she had passed out drunk in a car.

The woman also has a criminal recored I hear, and no way the rape shield law should allow this lap dancer to come off like Mother Teresa to a jury.

The whole truth and nothing but the truth should be offered.
Let the cards fall where they may.

If there was no case, get the prosecutor who is trying to get reelected on this impeached.

As it is, a recent person up for murder in that town (with evidence) got off with 50k bail, yet these kids with no evidence has a 400k bail each.

I see race, politics and a set up everywhere based on the facts I see so far.

The exotic dancer who accused members of the Duke University lacrosse team of raping her at a party may have been slipped a date-rape drug

Maybe she should have been arrested for being under the influence of a controlled substance. Did the police officer check the contents of her purse?

What does the toxic substance screen say? The other dancer's statement is pure speculation.

I used to do drugs (20 years ago). Often I would be smoking pot, or popping pills. I would be fine, then it all would hit me. I now take a pill for seizures. It is a barbituate. I can be fine, and then, hours later, I am out of it. Blurry vision, slurred speech. This is just speculation on the 2nd woman's part. There are many reasons for what may or may not have happened.
