WASHINGTON -- Hundreds of gay and lesbian parents hoping to take their families to the annual White House Easter Egg Roll plan to start lining up Friday evening to make sure they get tickets for the Monday event.

Thousands of tickets — an estimated 16,000 last year — are given away on a first-come-first-come basis beginning at 7:30 a.m. Saturday.

National Park Service officials said Wednesday that children of all ages may attend as long as there is at least one child 7 years old or younger, and no more than two adults per group.

First lady Laura Bush's office issued a statement saying all families are welcome to attend.

Oh, Hildy, I see people are praying for you again; so is this a gay thread or a Terri thread?

I'm still praying for you...

Apparently anyone who prays, thinks it cruel and wrong to starve people to death because they are helpless, or doesn't want a childrens' party turned into a "gay rights" demonstration.

There you go. If that's the case, I'm a prig and proud of it.

The issue is not the specific punishment Jefferson may have favored for sodomy, whether Connecticut's statute (execution) was harsher than that of New Jersey (imprisonment and fine), or whether a state adhered to the harsher Levitical standard vs. the lesser punishment in Anglo-American common law. The fact is that sodomy, and for that matter adultery, bigamy, fornication, and other forms of sexual conduct outside of monogamous heterosexual marriage, were universally proscribed by law at the time of the Founders on into the 20th Century. The universal prosrciption was based on the Scriptural condemnation of these practices, a matter taught by all orthodox Christian groups, as well as Jews, Mormons, Muslims, etc.

OTOH, none of the states enforced church attendance, all permitted the free exercise of religion, and most (Massachusetts and Connecticut excepted) disestablished the churches that were tax supported while they were under the British Crown. Even the last two states ended the establishment of the Congregational Church by 1835. Despite the disestablishment of the church and freedom of religion, the philosophical underpinnings of American law and the political order drew from Christian sources.

The abolition of the laws prohibiting sexual activities outside of marriage occurred gradually, mostly in the early and mid-20th Century, as legal positivism gradually replaced the Biblical roots of common law and the relatively new field of psychology perceived sexuality in terms of behavior or pathology rather than sin. Additionally, the effects of popular mass market entertainment and a reaction to the excessive prudishness of the Victorian era set the climate for a shift of popular opinion away from traditional sexual mores toward permissiveness.

Neither evangelical Christians nor other adherents of traditional, Biblically based morality that are out of sync with the beliefs of the Founding Fathers and the laws and customs of this nation in its first 150 years of existence. Rather, it is the secularists and libertines, including those who pose as conservatives on Free Republic and elsewhere, who are the opponents of the political and moral philosophy on which America was founded.

That's an urban legend. Disney does not plan, sponsor or promote the Gay Days. They just won't discriminate who they sell tickets to.

Hmmmm. How to say this politely.... BS!

The GayDay websites use Disney logos all over the place. Here's an experiment for you. Try putting Disney logos on your website and see what happens to you...

I don't understand how anyone who posts on FR could not have sided with Terri's family when that tragedy happened. I must have missed those comments at the time.

I understand the history of sodomy laws in the United States.

Rather, it is the secularists and libertines, including those who pose as conservatives on Free Republic and elsewhere, who are the opponents of the political and moral philosophy on which America was founded.

Actually, it is an inevitable consequence of women's liberation. If you want to blame something, blame the fact that Hebrew shepherds and Stoic Hellenes several thousand years ago put together a patriarchal religious system totally inimical to women's liberation. C'est la vie.

Newsflash: The year is 2006, not 1778. The world has changed, and the clocks ain't running backward, no matter how hard one wishes it were so. Deal with it, or don't. The clock will continue running forward either way.

Just a guess, from this near atheist.

You're right, you don't understand or receive Biblical truth because you're spiritually dead according to the Bible. Spiritual understanding is incapable for those who reject the Gospel. Nor do you understand how Biblical principles were embedded in the founding of our country or our founding fathers. Also you don't understand that God is not mocked, whatsoever man sows, that shall he also reap. That cause & effect is true for Christians, non-Christians or atheists (like you) and countries & leaders as well. This so-called "innocent" Easter Egg hunt has turned into one more battleground for the gay/lesbian/homosexual community to force a radical acceptance and embracing of their perverse & abominable chosen lifestyle. There is not a civilization or culture in the history of the world that has ever survived once it has embraced homosexuality as an accepted lifestyle. Not one! The U.S. and Western Civilization are dangerously close to the same precipice. You can laugh it off or dismiss it.... but our country will reap the seeds of moral depravity and perverse sexual lifestyles. Too bad GW Bush doesn't see this in light of Biblical truth and cancel this charade rather than bestowing credability on a gay/lesbian/homosexual lifestyle by allowing this to continue with with the white T-shirts and leis to defiantly proclaim their message. I feel sorry for the kids in the households of these perverse, abominable adults.

Whatever you call it, my impression is that [homosexuality] is largely incurable.

If you were to read my current FR profile you'd see a pointer to my blog. Unfortunately, due to time constraints there is very little there. Still, what's listed is key to why I'm involved in this discussion.

Check it out when you have some time.

Isn't it interesting how many times God punished the people for polluting their religion with pagan forms of worship stuff?

I'll just go ahead and ask...do you also consider belief in the deified nature of Jesus as "pollution" of the Israelite religion?

"Disney does not plan, sponsor or promote the Gay Days."

Their relationship explained here:
http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/926314/posts

"Gay and Lesbian Day at Walt Disney World and Universal Orlando is held on the first full weekend in June every year. Events are offered that start usually as early as the Wednesday before and continue through the Tuesday after. As the years go by, more events usually are added, and the likelihood of the Gay Day event stretching into the weekend before or after in the next 10 years is pretty good. So if you must plan that far ahead, allow for some flexibility!"

....Disney 'unofficially' does and so does BudLight; Roayal Plaza Hotel; Best Western Hotel;

Check it out here:

With respect to "women's liberation", you have mistaken an effect for a cause. The "women's liberation" movement is a current of the radical egalitarianism that had its roots in the French Enlightenment and atheistic philosophers like Rousseau and Voltaire. The ideology of radical egalitarianism was a major philosophical justification for the French Revolution, which cost the lives of over a million Frenchmen and led to the rise of the tyrant Napoleon, whose ruinous wars led to the evisceration of France and the end of its role as Europe's dominant land power and scientific and cultural leader. These ideas began infiltrating America in the 19th Century and in the 20th Century led to laws and social norms that undermined the traditional family.

The fact that over two centuries since the days of the Founders have passed is a time measurement, in itself neutral. However, to equate the passage of time with cultural or social progress is incorrect. Would the decay in the Roman Empire in the 3rd thrugh 5th Centuries, AD, the decline in Muslim civilization in the late Middle Ages, or the stagnation of Chinese civilization in early modern times be examples of historical progress? There certainly has been technical progress since 1776, but better and more efficient means of transportation, recordkeeping, business, agriculture, and so forth do not equate to moral or cultural improvement. The Soviet, Chinese, and other Communists had many of these means, and used them to kill at least 100 million of their fellow men in the last century. Unless one wants to draw some equivalence between Beethoven and Ozzy Osborne, the poetry of Shakespeare, Milton, etc., and "gangsta rap", and the minuet or the waltz and the mosh pit or slam dancing, the notion of the inevitability of progress is a false one.

To dismiss Western civilization as a group of male chauvinist "Hebrew shepherds and Stoic Hellenes" is a demeaning of the great philosophical, moral, and scientific achievements of that civilization. For all its flaws, Greco-Roman civilization and its Western successor and the Jewish and Christian religions achieved a far more humane and just society than what the other great civilizations of the world did. Human sacrifice, polygamy, infanticide, and numerous other barbarous practices of pre-Christian societies were abolished as the Christian faith permeated first the Roman Empire, and then Northern and Eastern Europe. The entire concept of a universal standard of law applicable to all men and applied without prejudice derived from both Greco-Roman and Christian sources.

As the Christian and Western influences are in decline in Europe and America, we see the inevitable outcome in weakened families, higher crime, increased sexual deviancy, etc. Far from social progress, what we are witnessing is a decline, what the late Daniel P. Moynihan described as defining deviancy down.

If the men of the late 18th Century had the technological achievements we have, the society of that time would have been a better place to live than what we have in our time.
