These kids need to be taught to respect their teachers! It's one thing to disagree, quite another to be rude and interrupt and prevent others from learning in class.

Textbook example of a post trolling for heated responses.
We shall see who takes the bait.
I got kicked out of a history class in high school for asking snotty questions. On one hand the teacher was insufferable and deserved it. On the other hand I didn't do that again.
I think students who are opposed to science should be offered the option of taking basket weaving or knitting or something.
IB4TZ? My first time, I think.
And in physics, "Forces? All of this gravity stuff is bogus - it is obvious that heavier things fall faster! You should teach the controversy. Where are there still things 'up'?" We could have skipped the second law of thermodynamics for sure - it contradicts the ignorant version being pettled.
But this is only a problem because of public schooling. If the ignorati could go and "learn" not-science, while the rest learn science - and employers were free to choose between the groups - this problem would mostly correct itself swiftly. There will just be another group of neo-amish, no skin off my nose.
As ignorance marches on.
The problem with this country is lax parents are bringing up kids with no idea of respect for their elders. It seems fundamentalist Christians are the worst offenders. You'd think it would be the hippies.
I really don't understand a veteran teacher putting up with this stuff. Disrespect should get you one warning, followed by expulsion. And if you can't answer a smart ass question from a 17 year old with withering sarcasm, maybe you should be in another job.
I think these kids ought to save the smart-ass remarks for the geography teacher.
Darn it, I DO NOT WANT TO HAVE TO LEARN CHINESE JUST TO STAY COMPETITIVE!!!
Reads like a novel. Is this supposed to be hard reportage? or is this crafted by a pseudo-news-reporter entertainer/author in search of a Pulitzer?
Yup. But it's only a matter of time before you see so-called "conservatives" defending students' "right" to be disruptive.
The conservative movement has lost its soul.
After reading the article no one should be surprised why our high school students score 24th in math and science as compared to other students in the top 25 countries in science and math. We use to be first 30 years ago. We did score first in self esteem. Guess they are shooting for the lowest possible position. We will have to add 50 more countries to the testing and that way we will be in the top 1/3 instead of the bottom 24/25. Then their self esteem will be even higher and their teachers and parents prouder.
These kids go to The One Church of Jesus, hear the minister introduce "Ken Ham, a great Christian speaker", who then describes how he reduces Darwinists to incoherance by using exactly this sophistry. The Congregation shouts "Prayz Jaysus", and a new generation of Creationid punks is recruited.
"Isn't it true that mutations only make an animal weaker?" sophomore Chris Willett demands. " 'Cause I was watching one time on CNN and they mutated monkeys to see if they could get one to become human and they couldn't."
"Thank you, Chris, but that's not covered in this class.
So how about a five page report, in your own words, on this experiment, referenced and footnoted. 20% of your grade.
Next transparency ..."
