After reading the article no one should be surprised why our high school students score 24th in math and science as compared to other students in the top 25 countries in science and math. We use to be first 30 years ago. We did score first in self esteem. Guess they are shooting for the lowest possible position. We will have to add 50 more countries to the testing and that way we will be in the top 1/3 instead of the bottom 24/25. Then their self esteem will be even higher and their teachers and parents prouder.

This would be an interesting insight where it not for the fact that evolution has a monopoly on science in public education. As you know religion has been banned in the public schools for 40 years.

I'm not connecting the poor performance of our schools in science on the teaching of evolution because clearly there are more and greater influences at work, nor do I think that evolution should not be taught, but the US did lead the world in scientific discovery at a time when all public schools started each day w/ a prayer. I'm sure that's just a coincidence.

That being said those students were rude and disrespectful and should have been disciplined, provided that discipline hasn't also been banned. It is the teachers job to quiet discord in a class and taking control of "raging YECs" should not be too difficult I would think.
