I'm not sure what TROP is, but this is my take. I am trying my best, here in Wisconsin, not to distrust every damm Muslim in the world, but, you know, it's hard to see good in everyone, when you're main outlet for your frustrations in life results in burning other countries embassies.
I do believe we're trying to do the right thing. Freedom Rules.

I guess no amount of factual clarity is going to persuade you. Having said that, carry on with your obfuscated from the truth and facts knee-jerking.

However, the Poly Tech story goes deeper than just a few Chinese Generals and a princeling or two. According to another document obtained from the Commerce Dept., the 2,000 machine guns were to be transferred to the Long Beach port in California onboard the COSCO ship, the Princess Bride. However, "a leak from the State Dept alerted the company, which then canceled the delivery."

"COSCO," according to Defense Department intelligence officials "operates a fleet of ELINT (electronic intelligence) trawlers for the PRC government... When China delivers missiles or chemical agents to the Middle East, specially outfitted COSCO ships deliver them."

The close relationship between the PRC and the DNC also appears in the halls of the Senate. On March 7, 1997, Senator Feinstein (D-CA) told the press that she and five other lawmakers had been targeted by the Chinese government. In response, Feinstein returned $12,000 she had obtained from John Huang and other donors linked to the Lippo Group.

Senator Feinstein is well known as an ardent fan of the reds in Beijing. She has opposed a U.S. anti-missile defense, supported China's MFN status, supported the COSCO purchase of Long Beach port and is a well-known opponent of linking human rights with trade. However, Feinstein's financial ties to the communist Chinese and COSCO include her husband, Richard Blum.

Blum is reported to be heavily tied to the PRC through his far east investment firm, Newbridge Capitol Corp. Blum's partner at Newbridge, Peter Kwok, also served as a consultant to COSCO, and COSCO Hong Kong Holdings, a company owned by Chinese billionaire Li Ka-Shing. In 1989, Kwok helped CITIC and Li Ka- Shing raise $120 million to buy a HUGHES built communications satellite for a company also part owned by Chinese Generals.

ROTFLMAO! Apparently you have never visited a post office or sent/received mail in a large metropolitan area!

I had to go into a Post Office in Southern California a couple of months ago to tell them that they were flying Old Glory upside down.

I was hard pressed to find an employee at the counters that understood English well enough to understand what I was trying to tell them.

Once I did get it across to one of them, they did go out front and fix it quickly, to their credit.

"This my FRiends is what I think it's all about! This is why the Dem's are having fits, it's not security it's UNION driven."

It sure is smelling that way

BTW
I do believe Reid and Schumker dumped Paul Hacket because of the Unions also

(snip)
Democratic bosses had decided to place their Senate race bets on another horse, seven-term Congressman Sherrod Brown of the unlucky 13th District who represents heavily unionized northeast Ohio rustbelt area from Akron to the industrial outskirts of Cleveland

Does this UAE company actually have hire/fire authority for the American citizens that work the ports? I assume the answer is 'yes'.

If so, then how would one alleviate the concern that the UAE company could hire a 'Jose Padilla' type? Or worse, that they could hire several of them.

In this way, terrorist elements could infiltrate the UAE company all the way down to the American citizens working the ports. From this point, NBC materials could easily be smuggled through the ports.

I find it interesting that an apparent past support for Alan Keyes is the focus of so many attacks on you. I don't see how that makes sense as a point of debate on this issue; but I guess it beats being called a bigot in post after post. This issue is a loser for the White House.

Now we have FReepers using terms like 'shrub', and talking impeachment.

They're embeds.

This is why the Dem's are having fits, it's not security it's UNION driven.

It has been claimed many times in this thread by those that agree with Bush that only the ownership would change and none of the actual people working at the locations would change at all.

Is this not true? If it is not then it blows away one of the arugments that those in favor of the deal are using.

"Do you disagree?"

This is what I disagree with. What follows in your post is a typical "Keyes-style" of rhetorical whip-up.

-------------------------------------------------------

One quick question:

How many people would die and how much damage would be caused by one Hiroshima-sized nuke set off from inside a container aboard a ship in New York harbor??

Just curious.

There are some less intelligent members of the base who can't understand his strategy, including a large number here on FR.

Unfortunately, the president just can't tell everyone why he is doing this....to help secure another crucial ME ally.

We need the UAE.

No doubt we will watch this company very closely.

They still have to operate under American labor laws. If their workforce is unionized, that isn't going to change.

I can only be thankful that the President does not share your view of political opportunism over sound policy. Because it is only by chance that what is politically popular would also be what is best for our future.

Signing McCain - Feingold doubled the value of the Bush fundraising lists intantly.

But hey, what's the First Amendment worth, anyhow...

I believe that is regarding port security

Is there anything in the contract(or law) that stimulates the UAE has to keep the unions???

I don't know what is in the contract .. that is way I'm asking
