When Joran got the call from his father that people were at the house inquiring about their daughter, Joran told Greta that Deepak did not ask any questions about it. Unless I'm confused, you are saying that Deepak and Joran had 20-30 minutes alone. The assumption is they prepared themselves to meet with those at Joran's house.
While we all, including Greta, find it extremely strange that Deepak never questioned Joran about what went on at the beach, and even more unbelievable to me, that Deepak never asked about the phone call from Paulus to Joran, saying people were at their house looking for their daughter, what went on in these 20-30 minutes?
Joran has admitted that he lied. I think he is willing to say he lied on two counts. So he lied twice, explained why, and other than that he's a really good guy.
I'm sure we'd all like to see him grilled by an expert who doesn't miss a beat, who won't let any detail slip past him (or her).
Getting Deepak to talk is another challenge. If Joran ends up trying to nail Deepak, that guy may have no choice.
Excellent. Don't you think it was very odd that Joran is out at the casino this time of the morning on a school night?
Croes doesn't have to mention Deepak. They had been to the Holiday Inn Casino...people there know Joran. They had been to CnC's...people there know Joran and Deepak. Croes had talked to kids around Joran's age anyone of which could have known about Joran and Deepak from Joran's discussions at school earlier that day. Bottom line...a lot of people on that small island knew Beth and Jug were there asking quesions BEFORE Deepak called Joran.
"Excellent. Don't you think it was very odd that Joran is out at the casino this time of the morning on a school night?"
Did Paulus let Joran go wild when Mom was away or was this just normal in their family? I have the feeling that Paulus sowed some wild oats when Mom was out of the picture also.
Joran is trying to kill three birds with one stone...1. Paint Natalee as a racist, 2. Natalee is a product of the first state to call for an Aruban boycott and if you don't believe Joran just take a look at the internet and you can see that everyone in the southern U.S. is a racist, of course, 3. Establish a possible motive for the Kalpoes.
All very subtle of course.
Who knows what Paulus was thinking or doing during all of this? Looks like Joran did quite a bit of roaming around the island during the late night and early morning hours. That by itself isn't a crime...but when you are the last person seen with someone who is now missing, all of these factors get brought into the mix.
Three possibles for Paulus:
1. He's totally clueless during all this and is now trying to protect his son.
2. He is a parent by default and doesn't really expect much of his kids nor does he think he needs to spend much time with them.
3. Like father, like son.
Is there a curfew on Aruba? (guess I should know this by now, but I don't remember)
I've never seen or heard anything about a curfew on Aruba. It's not looking like they do. After all, it's a vacation spot. I'm guessing there isn't one.
yes, there is a curfew on aruba: if you are under the age of four you can't drink in bars past 2a.m., and if you are school age you cannot be in a casino past 5 a.m...of course, this curfew is waived for pre-schoolers and they may gamble 24/7 since they technically aren't in school yet
LOL!!!! Sounds like they really gave it some thought too. LOL!!!!
i have a feeling that this comment has taken the same exaggerated place within joran's recollection as the hitler comment...i think both were said, i think both were said in fun...i doubt she was making a caustic racial comment as joran's recall implies...if i say to one of my friends--"you are working like a slave", it doesn't mean i think that person is black, or conditions are relating to the 1800s, nor does it mean i am a racist...joran has many preconceived notions on america and americans, as do the alpo brothers, and their take on both of these comments shows their own racial and political profiling lurking behind a mask, not natalee's
All very subtle of course.
Exactly, truthluva.
1. I don't believe Natalee EVER said that about the brothers. IF it was ever said, IMO, Joran said it to Natalee. Big man having 2 guys at his beck and call.
2. Also, Natalee could have reprimanded him saying it was wrong.
3. Joran projected his thoughts/feelings of blacks onto Natalee - PROJECTION.
Psychology - Projection
a. The attribution of one's own attitudes, feelings, or suppositions to others
b. The attribution of one's own attitudes, feelings, or desires to someone or something as a naive or unconscious defense against anxiety or guilt.
MORE - Projection
Remember when he said when he got into Deepak's car and Satish SAID, **** Natalee, leave her here and Satish took off fast. Satish SAID. Yet, who is the one (with his own words) that wanted to get away from Natalee?
own racial and political profiling lurking behind a mask, not natalee's
Yes! Also, listening to Joran about him and Natalee having casual conversation, IMO, IS NOT SO!
I believe Natalee very quickly realized she was in danger. Things went down quick. 2 to 2.5 hours and he was back home. The gardener says he saw them at 2:30 a.m. so that leaves a 1.5 hour timeframe - Natalee's last hours.
100% AGREED
These comments, according to Joran, were made while they were sitting outside of his house for, what, like nearly an hour? That's how much time is missing from his account...almost an hour. Then we are to believe they took some romantic, Barbara Cartland style, walk on the beach? For 'an hour, maybe less than an hour'. We go from that to he has to hurry the heck out of there because he has to go to school the next day? How late was he out the next night, another school night?
I think the comments are window dressing for the lie he is telling.
were made while they were sitting outside of his house for, what, like nearly an hour?
yeah, chit-chat w/deepak and satish in the car. There was never any casual talk, outside or inside his house NOR on the beach.
Also, as you stated - needed to get home because of school and the school bus came at 6:40 a.m. - three hours after he got home he had to be ready to leave for school. Then out the next night gambling - the week of exams.
These two nights alone shows it was a very poor excuse - using school - to leave Natalee alone.
His 'excuse' was MORE projection - Natalee WANTED to get away from joran - NOT joran get away from Natalee!
sidenote: where's those little guys? Didn't they show up for work today? :)

For your information, today the Judge ruled on the case Joran introduced to have himself released from being a suspect, and for the Judge to set a definite period of time for the case to come forward. The Judge ruled that Joran will remain a suspect for the next year and a half, and that the prosecutor can take its time to prepare the case and bring it forward when they think they are ready. In other words, both of Joran's petitions were rejected outright by the Judge!

That is great news! Guess Aruba is finally feeling the pressure!!
Now I want to hear that the civil case with Kelly is going forward against Juran!
"Aruba is finally feeling the pressure!!"
Of course they are....no tourists. But nothing has really changed....jorans "case" today was just a motion for dismissal. There is no real reason to dismiss it, and the boycott is on. But in reality, joran ALREADY was "suspect" for a period of 2 years from the day he was proclaimed a suspect, which would not have expired until June of '07. So if "a year and a half" means anything more than that, they failed to state it....but what is written above is correct, his liability as suspect was extended bt 3 months.
Either way, big deal....the beat goes on and on and we get lipservice and letdown after letdown from aruba. All they did was avoid an appearance that would increase displeasure with aruba.....and potentially the continuance as a suspect without more evidence will affect the US action in a way favorable to the VDS's.
This is a pig in a poke, and likely mollifies those in aruba that are angry over what joran has wrought on them.
JMO, of course.
Most likely you are right!
