WASHINGTON (CNS) -- The president of the U.S. bishops blasted a recent episode of the cable television comedy "South Park" that he said showed Mary in "a tasteless and ugly fashion."
In a Dec. 14 letter to Tom Freston, co-president and chief operating officer of Viacom International, parent company of Comedy Central, the cable channel that shows "South Park," Bishop William S. Skylstad of Spokane, Wash., said the channel showed "extreme insensitivity" in choosing to show the episode.
The episode, which first was shown Dec. 7 and had repeat showings in the week following, was titled "Bloody Mary." During the episode, a "South Park" character claims to have been sprayed with blood from a bodily orifice of a Virgin Mary statue.
When Pope Benedict XVI investigates in the show, he declares that she was merely menstruating. The episode's premiere date came the day before the feast of the Immaculate Conception, a holy day of obligation for Catholics.
Be sure to use that expression during your particular judgment and see how far it gets you.
". . . whirlwind of namecalling. . "
Just wait. The haters will respond with 20-page posts clipped from some religious article that tries to lawyer its way around the original laguage.
They already think the worst of me as a Jew-converted-to-Christianity AND a Freemason; actually reading scripture will cause them to explode.
So that's all conservatism is to you? Not saying the F-word?
Wow. You're terribly ignorant of what political conservatism is.
Go be a Christian socialist somewhere else. Maybe you can get a job in the ministry of culture or something.
Most of the people on FR know that you're DELIGHTED that the culture is going downhill; it plays right into your neediness to be morally superior to everybody in the world who isn't as big a prude as you are, which is just about everybody.
There's a term for conservatives who aren't social conservatives: Conservative In Name Only.
You're wasting your font on that one; his tunnel vision doesn't see the truth.
When I was a small child (seems like years ago)...I remember my parents having record albums by guys like Redd Foxx....etc.
Plus as I grew older (seems like years ago)...I remember talking with my Grandparents about Vaudeville...and just how racy they were. Seems a LOT of cussing went on there too....not to mention the sexual stuff.
....and if you look at Early American History (one of my favorite things to do) you will find cussing and cursing and all sorts of vulgarity.
"South Park"....is nothing new.Just a continuation....
redrock
p.s. Hope you have a Great New Year.
I love it. Another Leftist slur employed against supporters of traditional values. The South Park lovers are showing they've learned the vocabulary of the Left very well.
oh my goodness.
That is AWESOME!

Didn't they have burlesque dancers between acts, too?
This thread is so funny it needs to be on South Park.
The book told me so.
Nicely put.
Children are by nature lying little troublemakers.
Oh, I know I'm in bad company; after all, you're on this thread/forum.
Geez, for a minute there, I thought I was in the DUmpster, with all of these blasphemous posts. Thanks to those defenders of upright, American culture for proving me wrong!
,sarcasm off>
I'm loving your posts! Dead on.
"preverted not-conservative imbeciles,"
I like that! We can start a new wing of the conservative moment called PI for Perverted Imbeciles (as opposed to PC).
I can see Wolf Blitzed now (in a deadly serious voice): "Bitter infighting continues in the deeply fractured conservative movement. Today, the renegade PI wing sided with liberals by stating that they liked South Park. One leading expert predicts that this wing will bolt from the Republican party and vote en masse for Democrats in the upcoming 2006 elections... Gloomy news for President Bush seems neverending".
I believe it was a mixture of both. He was always God in human form, but also there is a mystery regarding his knowledge of his mission.
He definitely did not know everything from day one, which is interesting to ponder. Yet, he also had to know he was incarnated.
It is a paradox, but that is not rare for Almighty God.
